I have just discovered salted caramel and I don’t think I’ve ever tasted anything so exquisite in all my life!

I want Haagen daas now! For the salted caramel lovers, (I'll be joining the team very soon when I taste this delight!); my mum recently made the Nigella salted caramel ice cream & it was amazing & she says easy to do & no constant mixing- just caramel condensed milk & whipped cream & presumably salt

SimonBridges · 02/03/2018 22:26

This literally my sofa table right now.

Forgot to add the picture.

Crunchymum · 02/03/2018 22:29

Vanilla... absolutely delicious.

And I don't like ice cream Shock

Elfintreehuggywugger · 02/03/2018 22:32

Wow! Plenty of other flavours for me to look out for then!

I’ve had the cookies and cream which was amazing.

Yes, plasticky is exactly how I’d describe Ben & Jerry’s and far too many flavours in one pot.

I used to turn my nose up at Haagen Dazs in favour of B&J’s until I tried it!

Phish food.

PolaDeVeboise · 02/03/2018 22:35

The Chocolate Salted Caramel is AMAZING!

HemlockStarglimmer · 02/03/2018 22:55

Vanilla Chocolate Fudge was my favourite but I haven't seen it for years.
Coffee is my favourite ice cream flavour so I was very happy when my husband bought a tub of coffee Haagen Dazs a couple of weeks ago. I didn't open it for ages as I knew it would all go in one sitting. So I waited until the moment was right.

neonrose · 02/03/2018 22:56

I've found my people.

Salted caramel, and a new one I tried recently - salted caramel cheesecake 😍 Also tried a peanut butter one recently which was very good.

My old favourite was pralines and cream but the salted caramel has far surpassed it!

RagamuffinAndFidget · 02/03/2018 23:01

Salted caramel for me too.. or the chocolate salted caramel that pops up from time to time. Food of the gods.

tigercub50 · 02/03/2018 23:07

Isn’t phish good Ben & Jerry’s?!
I haven’t tried many Haagen Daz flavours & Asda don’t stock many sadly but of the ones I have tried, my fav is strawberry cheesecake.

tigercub50 · 02/03/2018 23:07

Food not good!

thefutureisours · 02/03/2018 23:09

Salted caramel. I'm not really an ice cream fan but could eat a whole tub of that by myself no problem!

ThisLittleKitty · 02/03/2018 23:12

Forget the tubs these are the nicest icecreams they do.

Dulce de leche is my favourite but I haven’t seen it anywhere for a while. Cookies and cream a close second.

theWarOnPeace · 02/03/2018 23:17

Pralines and cream, always a whole tub in one go! I do that about once every six weeks or so, if I’ve got a good series stocked up and a free evening. Ooh it’s been a while, might have to throw a tub into the basket Grin

minniemoll · 02/03/2018 23:25

Salted Caramel is the food of the gods. Chocolate Salted Caramel is in reserve, and I don't even usually like chocolate ice cream. They did a limited edition one a few years ago that I've never stopped missing - raspberry and white chocolate. It's was amazing.

ShadyLady53 · 02/03/2018 23:26

Pralines and cream. One of my favourite foods on God's good earth.

CrazyDaze1 · 03/03/2018 00:38

I live in the US and when I was at the supermarket yesterday I bought a tub of Haagen-Dazs ice cream which was of a new flavour: “Trio”.

It is “layers of crispy Belgian chocolate, white chocolate and milk chocolate ice cream”.

I just went to the freezer and my sneaky spouse has eaten almost the whole tub!

I also bought a Ben & Jerry’s 1 pint tub as it was on special offer at $2.88. US comedian Stephen Colbert’s “Americone Dream” - Vanilla ice cream with fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and a caramel swirl. We also have B&J’s ‘Red Velvet Cake’ but was disappointed in it tbh.

I’ve been to the manufacturing plant of Ben & Jerry’s on the drive back from Stowe in Vermont, where they do a small tour and give smaller samples and encourage you to spend money on souvenirs in the gift shop. The business was sold to the huge Unilever company and I suspect (like Kraft/Mondalez taking over Cadbury’s) inferior ingredients have probably been substituted and the quality isn’t what it once was.

Over here there are ice-cream shops/parlors in almost every town or roadside. We have a Haagen-Dasz and an ‘Emack and Bolio’s’, with a Baskin Robbins inside the Dunkin Donuts on the outskirts of town. There was a Carvels but it closed. However a nearby town has a Cold Stone Creamery

www.coldstonecreamery.com - where the ice-cream is put on a slab and you can choose things like gummy bears, choc chips etc. to be mixed into the ice-cream.

Another local town has a Dairy Queen (not a fan) and there is a Magic Fountain, stand-alone independent and large kiosk, only open in the warmer months and looks like it’s been there since the 1950s or 60s.....families line up for ages in the early evenings to buy. Portions are huge!

The latest fad in our area is rolled ice-cream, originally from Thailand. It’s like a kind of Swiss roll of ice-cream with mix-ins and choice of toppings (pics on www.zrolls.com).

My favourite ice-creams ever though (which sadly I can no longer buy) are:

  1. Swiss ice-cream brand Movenpick Salted Caramel - it had little balls of fudge which pop open and liquid caramel would ooze out....absolutely divine!

  2. Trader Joe’s (US store) Lemon creamy ice-cream with tiny pieces of lemon zest....fabulous and sadly discontinued :(

My son bought an ice-cream maker as a gift for my husband but tbh he hardly ever uses it...it’s hardly ever used as there is just so much choice over here.

FairyDogMother11 · 03/03/2018 00:43

It's a close tie between Coffee Latte and Strawberry Cheesecake!

SoleBizzz · 03/03/2018 00:47

Pralines and cream.

Ben & Jerry's is horrible aside from the banana and nut flavour at the cinema.

Isjaki · 03/03/2018 00:50

I love the Macadamia one. I also loved this Vanilla and Florentine one but I think it was a limited edition Sad

bridgetoc · 03/03/2018 02:49

Tough question...... I cannot pick a winner between Strawberry Cheesecake /Salted Caramel/Dulce De Leche......
