AIBU to want to move because my neighbour is?

My lovely neighbour is moving - they told me this morning. I totally understand why they’re going but I am gutted! This sounds like a massive over-reaction but a couple of years ago we went through absolute hell with noisy anti-social neighbours and when the landlord finally gave them notice it was a big relief all round. I’m so frightened of the same thing happening that I feel like selling up and moving! AIBU?

Wouldn't it be easier to wait and see what the new neighbours are like? What if you move and your new neighbours there aren't good? Keep on moving?

I know you're probably just venting your worries, but I think you're more likely to get a decent neighbour than a bad one. There's a little row of new houses near me and the people moved in about 6 months ago ... all seem very nice - in fact, two families are really lovely, and another keeps to themselves (but are quiet and keep the house nice). So don't worry too much.

I know how you feel OP. Our very quiet neighbours put up a for sale sign just before Xmas and I was so upset!

We love our house and are about to extend it so we can stay here for another 10 yrs at least and I am worried who will buy it but there's no point worrying about it until it happens. You might get lovely new neighbours!

Wait and see. I have had a similar situation so understand how you feel.

We had neighbours like yours and then they moved now my others are moving. It is an anxious time but really antisocial people are rare despite what you see on the TV .

Good luck 😊

You’re all right - if we moved we could inadvertently move next to horrible neighbours again! And even tho the landlord of that house is reportedly a complete twat about repairs etc, he did get rid of the horrible family after we complained (many many times!).
I’m going to be brave, and pray that the new people are nice and quiet!!
