Facebook marketplace

I’ve had a bit of success having a clear out and getting rid of stuff on Facebook marketplace, I always ask for about 1/3rd of the new price because I only sell things that are in excellent condition and for most things people have just asked for my address, turned up the same day and handed over the cash.

I put my old mobile up with good pictures and an honest description of every tiny scratch and I’ve had quite a bit of interest but no can come and get it because of the snow. If I sold it to CEX I’d get about £120 and they’d sell it for about £230 so I stuck it up on Facebook for £150, which I thought was reasonable because obviously you’d have more rights buying it from CEX.

I’ve had a few messages asking what the lowest price I’ll take for it is and I’ve been honest and said I’ve got a lot of interest so I won’t be lowering the price and most people have said ok.

But I’ve had one CF message me, after I told him I wouldn’t lower the price, asking for more photos, which I sent, then asking loads of questions, which were all answered in the listing and then he told me I’d have to reduce the price because it’s about an hours drive to pick it up so I have to take their travelling costs into consideration!

AIBU to give him a piece of my mind?

There's always one CF! Tell him to do one. Why should you lower the price for this entitled person when it's his choice of whether or not to buy it. If he wants to travel for an hour then it's up to him. I wouldn't drop the price

I definitely won’t be dropping the price! To be honest I wouldn’t sell it to him now at all. He had the cheek to make it sound like he was doing me a favour! I’ve actually got someone who’s coming once the snow’s cleared so it’s no skin off my nose Grin

Reply with a new price for him and make it £50 more expensive.

I have had people ask if they can pay in installments for a kids wooden climbing frame/ swing set AND ask if my DH would deliver it and put it all together for them in their garden!!
Some people have no shame!

falsepriest · 02/03/2018 14:47

Get them every time. Price is the price or they can jog on.

TheRebel · 02/03/2018 15:05

Hahaha got to love a trier. My ex would have said similar. He does believe the world and his dog owes him his living though....

I'd just have blocked him.

I find Facebook Marketplace buyers to be incredibly flaky. On Monday they’ll tell you that they definitely, absolutely want to buy the item, and they’ll pop round first thing Tuesday morning. The next day they’ve obviously changed their mind and either text you to say their dog is sick and they can’t come (nor can they come once the dog gets better, mysteriously); or they just ghost you completely. It’s ridiculous!
