We don't have real snow here, but we have a lot of freezing sleet and wind. It's grey, very cold, and miserable.

The two women who sit opposite me both arrived looking frozen and windblown. An hour later, they're both tossing around manes of hair that make it look like I work in Vidal sassoon. Seriously. One is British Chinese and has black silk falling down her back; the other is white blonde and has perfect waves down to her shoulders. their hair just dries like that all by itself even when it's full of sleet!!!

Meanwhile I have a halo of thick Brillo pad frizz after getting shit wannabe snow in it. If I don't have it blow dried or spend ages doing it myself, when it does look nice (provided i sit still and don't come across a gust of wind or single raindrop) I look like the love child of a muppet and mrs Doyle.

I spend a lot of money on shampoo etc. I give it regular treatments. I have it trimmed. I take supplements. It's still a dry old mess. Is this just genetics? Is there a magic food I should be eating? How do I get hair that styles itself???? Waaaaah.

I'd love to have an answer but I have the same issue myself. I don't have to leave the house for it to turn into a frizzy mess

AbsolutelyCorking · 01/03/2018 11:19

I have a friend like that too. Perfect long blonde hair. I think a lot of it is genetics!

SpiceRack · 01/03/2018 11:22

I have the same problem. I started using the John Freida creme ( can't remember what it was called but it's in a purple bottle ) that you put on after you've styled your hair and it makes it stay nice and shiny and stay in place

My hair was outrageously course and wild until I invested in a good hair brush! The tangle teezer paddle brush is amazing! I'm even using cheaper products. I wash my hair with natural World shampoo and conditioner (orange one from Tesco's. Often on offer) and to heat protect L'Oréal studio pro sleek it. Again not a mega bucks product and often on sale!

here you go! it's the Frizz Ease range, they also have a really good Frizz Ease section of stuff for curly hair

Dry shampoo tamed my frizzy hair

Should have washed my hair today but why bother when you can just spray and brush your hair and it looks ok if you like 80’s big hair Grin

StarsBrokenAgain · 01/03/2018 11:32

Definitely some of it is genetics.

I too am of the fuzz all persuasion, and I think a good moisturising shampoo and conditioner REALLY helps. I use Pureology.

JustVent · 01/03/2018 11:33

Sounds like you need one of those Brazilian blow dries.

Is that what they are called?

JustVent · 01/03/2018 11:39

Yes.

Look at these

If I ever have to go out in wet/windy weather and want to keep my hair nice, I wear a really tight fitting hat and put my hood up.

It doesn't squash your hair but does mean that it remains totally dry and untouched by the weather.
