Please help. I'm having a gallbladder attack. I haven't had one since October and I'm in agony. Last time, I took something and it worked fairly well. Was is buscopan and ibuprofen?

TIA

Only thing that worked for me was co-codamol and then an op to remove it. Sorry op, I know how painful they are and frightening during the night. Hope it passes soon.

Chrisinthemorning · 01/03/2018 02:16

Flowers for middle of the night pain crew

StressedOut1701 · 01/03/2018 02:19

Thank you! I found some buscopan and ibuprofen in the depths of my draw so I assume it's that! I've taken them. Maybe I should take.some codine too?

Morphine was the only thing that helped when I was in hospital. Would definitely recommend the codeine! It helped when I had an attack that lasted 12 hours 😖 You have my sympathies. Gallbladder attacks are absolutely awful

Efrig · 01/03/2018 02:31

Lemon juice can help.

Niceandwarmandhot · 01/03/2018 02:46

Cocodamol, buscopan and a warm bath or hot water bottle/hot wheat sack. Try to stay hydrated. Flowers OP, its shit.

MrsCrabbyTree · 01/03/2018 02:50

I had a gall bladder attack when in labour. That was fun ... not !

Try walking and wriggling your torso as it may move the little stony bugger along the duct.

Not necessarily doing the above at the one time, perhaps alternating would be a better option.

Flowers I feel your pain.

Ringsender2 · 01/03/2018 02:54

Poor you. Had mine out eventually. A good decision. I realised that the humble paracetamol is actually rather a powerful painkiller. (That fact came in handy on 2nd labour.)

user1518812545 · 01/03/2018 02:57

I get on all fours and rock and try and dislodge the stone and lie on a boiling hot water bottle. I’d rather burn my back than have that pain. Hope you’re ok x

StressedOut1701 · 01/03/2018 03:00

Thank you. Pain is now bearable but not able to sleep yet. I was diagnosed in November but because the attacks had stopped, I heard nothing after the ultrasound.

Might phone the GP and ask for a referral. There's no way I can do it all again.

Shall we watch something to cheer us up? Do you have prime or Netflix?

ShapelyBingoWing · 01/03/2018 03:07

I get on all fours and rock and try and dislodge the stone

I used to do similar. I'd also pretty much smush my fist right up under my ribs to try to dislodge. If none of those worked I'd also try drinking fairly huge quantities (of milk usually but it wouldn't need to be) to
alter the balance of pressures in my abdomen before trying again.

I never found an effective pain killer for it so these were my only real options.

Singlebutmarried · 01/03/2018 03:08

I had these until l I had mine out. Worse than labour IMO

Hot water bottle, rocking on all fours and painkillers til you pass the stone.

peachgreen · 01/03/2018 03:40

I hope you took the Buscopan - they worked for me where morphine didn't! Such a relief to finally get my gallbladder out.

StressedOut1701 · 01/03/2018 04:20

Still awake and in pain. Hot water bottle cold and it's too cold to get another! Sad

there is a chemical in apples that soften the stones. I think that there is something that you can do with apple juice and olive oil...
