to miss my last day at work?

I'm 37 weeks and meant to have my last day at work tomo but don't really fancy risking slipping in the ice to get there. I live in London so likely that trains will be running ok but my MIL would also be travelling 30 miles (by car) in this weather to look after my DD while I'm there.

I've had quite a few days off recently so feel guilty but am worried about the journey. Am I being pathetic?

Not pathetic at all, sounds like a lot of hassle and risk for one day!

munqch · 28/02/2018 22:23

A little bit, yes. It's one day. Just be careful and you'll be fine.

Hellywelly10 · 28/02/2018 22:26

Do you want to say goodbye to your collegues? What's your commute like?

Argeles · 28/02/2018 22:35

It’s too risky, don’t bother.

I’m at the same stage of pregnancy as you, and I’m also in London, but I will not be travelling to Uni tomorrow due to the risk of falling/slipping over. My Mum would also have an awful journey to come to my house to look after my DD, and I don’t want to put her through that either.

I only just stopped myself from falling over in the snow today, and I really hurt my stomach on one side and one of my legs with the strain of trying not to fall down.

HeavyLoad · 28/02/2018 22:35

Hellywelly we had a goodbye meal last week. Commute is about half an hour and easy in normal (non snowy) circumstances.

Argeles oh dear. Hope you're ok now. I stumbled down some stairs at a train station a few weeks ago and also hurt myself from the strain of not falling. People turned to look but no one asked if I was ok and it shook me up a bit.

Don't risk it, is it really worth it? You can always pop in once the snow melts if you need to finish signing anything or bring anything home with you.

scrabbler3 · 28/02/2018 23:26

I wouldn't be comfortable asking anyone to make an unnecessary car journey in an amber or red area. I think that your MIL should stay at home and so should you, unless you do a life-or-death job.

MyBrilliantDisguise · 28/02/2018 23:30

Your MIL should stay at home and so should you. Send or take some cakes in when the weather's better.

Honestly, OP, nobody will be expecting you in work tomorrow.

MyBrilliantDisguise · 28/02/2018 23:32

My son was in London tonight and it was snowing. Tomorrow it's predicted heavy snow. Don't put yourself through it!

Thanks all. Guess I will be spending the day distracting my toddler from snowman-building.
