To assume schools will probably be closed tomorrow, too?

DS1's school closed just as he was about to leave. Ds2 and 3's school opened as usual then sent everyone home at 1pm.

We've got at least 3 inches here. No reason to expect anything to melt and possibly more on the way.

The kids are all excited and not expecting school tomorrow. I'm not sure if I can convince them to go to bed at school night time.

DH was annoyed with the primary school even opening this morning. He thinks we should assume they're closed and not even take them in the morning. Especially as he had to go get them early today!

I'm undecided.

There is currently 17 cm of snow in my garden and it is still lightly snowing. We were closed yesterday and today but staff have just been called to say we are open tomorrow unless the snow gets heavy over night.

kimlo · 28/02/2018 17:45

dalek it's all well and good saying can you not ring them in the morning, but this morning they didn't send out the message until 8, the time the first staff are on site. Breakfast club starts at 8. I would rather that they made the call now, than after I had left the house to get her to a school that may or may not be open.

We don’t have any snow but been told school shut for rest of the week!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 28/02/2018 17:48

How old are the DCs

ItsNachoCheese · 28/02/2018 17:49

Im in the middle of the red snow warning and its snowing still

nokidshere · 28/02/2018 17:50

Ours are all probably going to be closed because whilst we don't have snow right now we are due a heavy tomorrow morning. The problem won't be getting to school I don't think, it will be getting back from school.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 28/02/2018 17:52

My school and DSs school will make the decision in the morning.

Our school sent a text at 5pm letting us know school is closed tomorrow. We've had shed loads of snow since they sent a text at 7am today advising they were staying closed so wasn't surprised tbh. It's still snowing here and the buses aren't running so would be impossible for lots of the school to get there even if they were open. Really hoping they decide to stay closed on Friday as well now.

We have a little bit of snow but are expecting a lot over the next few days. Various businesses and one collage have already said they will be closed until Monday. The real shame is it has forced the food bank to close, they have space within a business premises and because they have closed the food bank has to close.

The80sweregreat · 28/02/2018 17:59

Dont know - ours texted at 6.30 am today so, i - assume they will tomorrow as well to let us know whats what. I imagine scotland they will all be shut! Those poor souls have it worse than us.

MerryInthechelseahotel · 28/02/2018 17:59

I'm in the middle of the red warning too. It's snowing here with lots lying already. We are definitely closed tomorrow but I would say Friday too. Whereabouts are you op?

somethingfromnothing · 28/02/2018 18:03

We’re in the middle of the red alert area. It’s snowed pretty much all day. Dd is in the garden with s ruler measuring how deep it is. It varies between 6 and 11 inches depending on how much it’s drifted in the wind. It’s just started again. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this much snow before.

dementedpixie · 28/02/2018 18:05

Our council updates social media about closures. This morning we knew from 7am on fb and Twitter. Still snowing here

ThomasShelbysBunnet · 28/02/2018 18:05

I just went out to clear a path for the dog to get to the garden and when I opened the gate the snow was drifted down and past my knees. We're going nowhere tomorrow.

ThomasShelbysBunnet · 28/02/2018 18:06

God excuse the awful grammar. The snow had drifted down and was past my knees.
