Extension finished 12 months ago. Been chasing for final bill but although he keeps promising to do it there's still no sign. How long before I can splash the money on a holiday instead? We have no written contract
Tbh I wouldn't do it but just be interested to know. Think he must earn too much!

Keep the money in the bank. You'll need it eventually.

FrancesHouseman · 28/02/2018 12:32

How much are you expecting it to be?! Think I'd have to keep the money safe until he calls it in but seriously, twelve months later?!!

Grilledaubergines · 28/02/2018 12:34

Is he actually around? Not residing at Her Majesty’s Pleasure?

Girlsworld92 · 28/02/2018 12:35

About £10k. I'm sure he will call it in but it's pretty weird to me. I thought it might be a tax thing but the tax deadline has been & gone. Could do with knowing as I think we will have some spare

Hahaha grilled. He's around as he went to see my neighbour 2 weeks ago about doing some work for him!!

Grilledaubergines · 28/02/2018 12:38

Is he holding off the invoice until the new tax year maybe? Benefits that may come with that?

Grilledaubergines · 28/02/2018 12:38

Sorry OP just seem you responded re tax earlier!

Girlsworld92 · 28/02/2018 12:39

Bit weird really. I might give him another chase

Buy premium bonds and get a chance of a win, with the money. If he invoices, call them in. Until then, it’s secure.

He’s either forgetful or so rich he doesn’t need £10,000!

Girlsworld92 · 28/02/2018 12:42

Good idea Grilled. I agree I think he's got so much money he doesn't know what to do with more 😂😂

I'll bet you get the invoice the first week in April, for the new tax year.

Girlsworld92 · 28/02/2018 13:07

Yes maybe you are right Glad. I just thought he might be saving it to pay his tax bill but that's a good thought.

GladAllOver · 28/02/2018 13:13

I'm doing just that for an invoice to one of my clients.

blackteasplease · 28/02/2018 13:15

Maybe he's in the middle of going into liquidation and doesn't want the OR to know he has this coming in.

squiglet111 · 28/02/2018 13:19

How strange! But yes I agree, he's probably waiting for new tax year. Maybe holding off invoices means he can keep himself under a certain tax bracket

MatildaTheCat · 28/02/2018 13:22

Honestly, some work people are excellent at their job but shit at business affairs. A friend had almost exactly the same situation last year. She was pleased with the work and she contacted him and reminded him.

I have several other smaller examples. I think it’s quite mean to withhold the money. It may well be that his office is a total mess and his family is short of money ( my own father was slightly like this).

Pay him and suggest he outsources his book keeping. Smile

FizzyGreenWater · 28/02/2018 13:33

He will invoice on April 6th!!!

Good idea with the premium bonds - I would ABSOLUTELY do that if you can get them cashed back in a short time frame?

Jonsey79 · 28/02/2018 13:36

He has up to 6 years to invoice you after completion I believe! Crazy man. I wish I could afford to be lazy about collecting 10k!

Girlsworld92 · 28/02/2018 13:37

Ah don't worry I was joking about not paying Matilda. He's been fab, such a lovely guy and always picks up the phone when I call & has done all the snagging really quickly. I agree, he's just a bit crap at admin. I will hope to get the bill in April. Think it will be the first time I will ever have been glad to receive a bill!

Girlsworld92 · 28/02/2018 13:37

Good knowledge Jonesy, only 5 to go 😀

OP posts:
Girlsworld92 · 28/02/2018 13:37

Sorry Jonsey

I've got one that despite phone call, text and emails just will not send a bill. Can't pay him. Money reserved what an arse, and it is only £200 so I doubt it is a tax year issue.

Spending no more time chasing. He knows where I am.

Girlsworld92 · 28/02/2018 13:42

I kind of agree with you Special, I'm sure he will be in touch when he's ready. It's not like you can forget when someone owes you £10k surely.
