Drinking whilst pregnant

Major paranoid, didn’t find out until 15 weeks and had binge drank at 2&3, 9&10, 11&14 weeks, very worried

Drs and midwives said it’s done and should be fine but can’t stop worrying. Scan at 17 weeks was comepletely fine.

Any help would be so appreciated

Op you and baby will be fine love don’t worry look forward

It’s unlikely a scan would show anything.

Op the massive weight of likelihood is that you will be fine. Think of all the people who don’t find out until the point you did (lucky buggers I was puking from about two seconds after conception..) now think about how many kids you know with alcohol based cognitive impairment.

I’m not minimising drinking in pregnancy- I didn’t touch a drop and I think the current NHS guidelines are sensible. What I’m saying is that that first episode can be discounted and the second two were short temporary insults. Fas seems to occur when the baby is exposed at a certain level and for a certain time.

We have all had something non optimal in pregnancy- I’ve been vomiting constantly and so have been unable to take folic acid and vitamins without them coming straight back up, and I’ve had a number of hideous viruses my toddler shared with me. Ive also been taking various antiemetic drugs. Now I’m anaemic.

I’m trying just to take it in my stride. Very few pregnancies are perfectly nourished/virus free/fever free/knock, bump or other issue free and yet the vast majority of babies do OK.

If it makes me any more listenable too my PhD was based around genetics of embryonic development and cancer type processes. So I’m probably reasonably well informed.

If the anxiety is consuming you, seek some help from your MW, and try to enjoy the pregnancy without guilt

OP things are more than likely fine.
I remember reading a study on alcoholic pregnant women in Russia, I think it was. A 1000 women who had 10 or more alcoholic drinks a day were monitored and out of them 2 thirds of their babies were absolutely fine and it was less than a third that had FAS.
So please don't panic.
