Early morning snacks

I am nearly 36 weeks pregnant and have just started Mat leave. Trying to enjoy being asleep as much as possible but have been waking up between 4 and 6 every morning since Saturday absolutely starving. Takes me ages to get back to sleep cause I refuse to get up and go downstairs as it just wakes me up more!

WIBU to have a cereal bar stash in my bedside cabinet for a wee snack before going back to sleep??

Not at all. I used to take a flask of coffee (decaf) too

tealandteal · 27/02/2018 19:49

Not at all! I used to wake up craving juice but worry about the sugar on my teeth but if it was past 5am I considered it fair game!

Fruitcocktail6 · 27/02/2018 19:51

Not at all. I'm 10 weeks and have had the same, awful, ravenous hunger that wakes me up. I'm pretty gutted to hear it comes back later on Angry

I've had a plate of crumpets next to my bed.

RoryAndLogan · 27/02/2018 19:59

Definitely not! Make the most of time to sit and have an early morning snack before little one appears and you don't have time to wee!!

blackteasplease · 27/02/2018 20:01

It sounds a good plan! Do whatever you need to to get your rest and look after yourself.

WhoAmIReally99 · 27/02/2018 20:03

having a little snack and going back to sleep is surely better for you than laying there hungry unable to get back to sleep. You need your rest and a cereal bar (or fruit or toast, biscuits....) won't do too much harm in the long run.

mintich · 27/02/2018 20:04

I have Belvitas next to the bed!

Squaffle · 27/02/2018 20:05

Go for it! I remember getting up at 4am, making hot cross buns and eating them on the sofa under a duvet before eventually falling asleep in front of iPlayer. Enjoy mat leave Smile

duffaho · 27/02/2018 20:05

Go for it !
I favoured rich tea biscuits, buttered and sandwiched together. Lovely -not too sweet , easy enough to keep on the bedside table and didnt take too many to satisfy the hunger pangs.
I never had a drink though but yes .A nice flask of coffee would have been lovely.

My husband will probably think I'm mad crunching on a cereal bar at 5am but needs must, you know! I love my sleep, wish I could bottle it up and portion it out when baby is here!

I moved the biscuit tin into the bedroom during my last trimester as my morning sickness returned and eating was the only thing to settle my stomach! My advice is go for it!

FrozenMargarita17 · 27/02/2018 20:11

I used to have a pack of digestives next to the bed!

CottonSock · 27/02/2018 20:12

I used to have porridge in middle of night

MadeinBelfast · 27/02/2018 20:14

Bananas are good at 4am!

TheCatsMother44 · 27/02/2018 20:14

Do it!

I'm 39 weeks and find that having a very small snack helps me get back to sleep whereas if I just try to get back to sleep I can't manage it and sit and wallow in awake self pitty.

FrogCow · 27/02/2018 20:17

I just to have the belivita baked bars, the ones that are a bit softer on my my side table. Right next to a massive bottle of gaviscon.

Astrid2 · 27/02/2018 20:21

Oh yeah @FrogCow I've got a bottle of Gaviscon in every room at the moment!! Such a glamorous time!!
