Hi Everyone,

I need help regarding MATB1 Certificate. My clinic and midwife are Barkentine clinic East India. I am 13 weeks 2 days Pregnant and my due date as per first scan is 1st September 2018 and as per my LMP it is 10 th sept. To qualify for SMP my due date should be 2nd September so basically having short of only 1 day. Can anyone suggest me which date midwife fill in MATB1 Certificate (EDD as per Scan date or LMP Date) and if I would request them to fill the date in that form 2nd September instead of 1st.

Kindly help I am very confused now as just for 1 day I will not get SMP.

Thanks!

The midwife will put in whatever date she feels is accurate.

You could mention your dilemma but I don't think you can tell her what date to put.

DP is a maternity pay expert. If you can wait till 7-ish, when he's home, I'll get him to look at the dates.

When did you start your job?

FloydOnThePull · 27/02/2018 16:56

Mine is the date as per my scan. I don't know how likely it is that your scan date will change at 20 weeks but I understand that they issue the mat b1 after that as it's further on and more accurate. My date stayed the same on the 2 scans so I dont know if they do tend to vary much, but that might help if your 20 week scan puts your date back a bit.

Aprilmightmemynewname · 27/02/2018 16:58

Scan date I would assume.

bookgirl1982 · 27/02/2018 16:59

Most likely scan date but you can ask...

WiseDad · 27/02/2018 17:01

Just ask her nicely. These things are so prone to error anyway. Make sure you copy the cert as if she won't do it and the baby comes quite late you could sue(! Not that I condone such action but if they knew that accurately when babies are coming you would never have a midwife shortage in delivery rooms)

Littlecaf · 27/02/2018 17:05

I had something similar and was told there was nothing they could do.

Iwantamarshmallow · 27/02/2018 17:11

It's the scan date. My lmp was actually after the date the scan suggests I got pregnent but the hospital/ midwife refused to change it. I'm not sure the midwife is alloud to change the date but theres no harm in asking.

PersianCatLady · 27/02/2018 17:13

On the certificate, it says something like "The date which falls in the week"

Have a look for a specimen MATB1 online

This is utter rubbish. The form asks the midwife to enter an educated opinion. As long as the midwife is not negligent in their assessment then they cannot be sued for not getting the date spot on.

Compensation culture gone idiotically mad.

mayhew · 27/02/2018 17:22

As a midwife, I put the EDD as calculated in the 12 week scan.
The form says it is estimating the week in which the baby is expected, not a specific day.
