...as I found a big insect insect in a tin of beans some weeks ago and am feeling massively fobbed off.

I wasn't looking 'for compo', so I contacted the company directly; they wanted the can and said they'd let me know. They sent me a £10 Morrisons voucher as a goodwill gesture.

They didn't follow up so I contacted them again. Immediately I was sent an attachment, dated that day, basically saying it was a bee, it couldn't have got in there, and IF it did, it would have been deformed due to the high temperatures of the process.

So they fucking think I put it there myself, all for a 10 voucher? Bastards.

I found a live butterfly in an unopened packet of salad. It was just fluttering around in there.

Rottweilers · 27/02/2018 14:30

Frombothsidesnow · 27/02/2018 14:39

Realising halfway through eating some reheated roast pork that it was covered in a THICK layer of fly eggs. That's halfway. The eggs were so thick I hadn't seen them, if that makes sense?

gnarlington · 27/02/2018 14:40

An ex of mine once found half a cockroach in his pudding while we were eating out. He had eaten the other half of the pudding...

Mammyloveswine · 27/02/2018 14:44

I found a caterpillar making a cocoon on a leaf in a salad i was eating from boots... got a 25 pound voucher!

Then i had a tesco sandwich and found another caterpillar crawling around on the bread! Got a tenner voucher that time!

Just pleased the caterpillars were whole and alive!

In my youth ( many years ago ) I worked in a fish and chip shop in a seaside resort. We had blue plaster found cooked into bought in sausages, paper in the middle of bought in burgers etc but then we also had those trying to get a free meal by 'finding' things. One couple found a long black hair on top of their fish, only two staff on. Me who had white blonde hair and an extremely bald cook. Guess what colour and length hair the customer had?!

deadringer · 27/02/2018 15:17

Feathers in a chicken goujon.

BeanFobbedOff · 27/02/2018 15:37

Arf, 7even

You got me, I was really hoping for at least £12.50 in vouchers.
Nope, I wanted a reply with explanation at least. And then the reply annoyed me.

NB I think that the tins are sealed then boiled, no?

A tooth in a sausage...no idea whether it was a pig tooth or human as I was too traumatised to find out!

pud1 · 27/02/2018 19:01

Worldsworstcook, dead thankfully.

zgaze · 27/02/2018 19:02

Four toothpicks in a Nando’s wrap - the manager couldn’t have cared less. I wish I’d pursued it further. I only realised because I almost swallowed one in a mouthful!

Eliza9917 · 27/02/2018 19:03

Today 13:37 CointreauVersial

A rock-hard baked bluebottle in a box of Rice Crispies
A live caterpillar in a sealed bag of spinach that had been in my fridge for several days (I liberated it in the garden).
Half a patch of mould in an apple strudel (with teethmarks in....eurgh).

The funniest was a tin of baked beans that had only 9 beans in it - the entire rest of the tin was sauce. Pretty horrifying when it's your only tin, and the toast is already in the toaster!

I'd have loved that, I've been saying for years they should sell tins of bean juice, that's the best bit.

Worst I've ever found in my food is hair. Twice in harvester and once in Thorpe park KFC.

Justanotherlurker · 27/02/2018 19:08

I found a tiny caterpillar inside a raspberry, still alive mind you.

I had happily munched a load of the raspberries before seeing this one single one sat within perfect range that I could see inside it, I thought it was the standard leaf that you sometimes find but upon closer inspection, nope, wriggly caterpillar.

I was quite impressed that a punnet from a supermarket was obviously quite fresh, but I am now a bit squeamish wrt raspberries and have to look notice that I glance inside everyone I eat Blush

Girlsworld92 · 27/02/2018 19:11

Maggots in a box of kids raisins. They refund the raisins but the manager of the store couldn't have cared less. It was Tesco btw. Really annoyed me with his attitude more than the maggots in raisins sketch.

spidereye · 27/02/2018 19:13

Cockroaches in a can of john west tuna, the company couldn't give a damn.

A huge slug in a packet of giant mushrooms

Munrow · 27/02/2018 19:17

Someone's finger nail in my m and s prawn mayo sandwich. I had just given birth so the last thing I felt like doing was complaining! Have never bought one since and that was almost two years ago.

I often find hair in m and s bakery products. Really grim Confused
