To think that BBC morning news is the biggest "non news" program

That I have ever seen!
I never watch morning telly but just had it on this once to see if there was any information about school or road closures.
What a bunch of pap! Two-minute magazine style clips flipping from studio to "on location" at some random station, (sorry Colchester), to tell us that it's snowing and to stay tuned to hear all the news and updates. No news or updates appeared. Just flicking between the station and studio to inform us that it is snowing and to keep tuned in.
I have never seen so much time spent on telling us nothing. (I am not just referring to the snow news here either).
I get better update and news via Twitter!

Try switching over and watching ITV. That's non-TV for you!

I have it on in the background every morning as we're getting ready. Today so far I've just seen a bit about unregistered schools, news about the Syria ceasefire and lots about the extreme weather. If you want hard, serious news then listen to Radio 4. The Breakfast tv show is about giving you the basics of what's happening and some general interest pieces, not in depth analysis.

It's FAR better than the ITV version with their simpleton presenters and endless plugging of their competitions.

LucheroTena · 27/02/2018 07:53

No, it’s crap. They employ lightweight presenters who don’t have the brains to question anything. Channel 4 news pisses all over the Beeb.

Glumglowworm · 27/02/2018 07:54

A national news program is never going to be much help for very local things like school closures.

Even “local news” covers huge regions of England or countries in wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

LadyLaSnack · 27/02/2018 07:55

It’s not a news bulletin. It’s a news-heavy magazine programme bring you local, national and international information. And the have to fill 210 mins of content every day.

cleofatra · 27/02/2018 07:55

Oh right, I'll look at ITV now.

Agree on the school closures - our "local" news which covers the whole of Scotland says things like "several school closures in Highland, please check the council website for a full list of schools affected." They do run through the main traffic issues.

Totally unreasonable to expect a national station to start talking about a school in Suffolk which has closed, affecting 20 families.

I must have just missed that.

Totally acknowledge there wouldn't be individual council lists of schools etc. even the "local" bulletins don't cover our area. Just shocked in general at the lack of actual news.
What "ladylasnack* says makes sense, thanks!

it is BBC breakfast, so i am not even sure it Is the news, since it doesnt have that in its title
agree, turn to radio 4

heron98 · 27/02/2018 09:03

I hate how they have to have two presenters who take it in turns to say a sentence each. It annoys me so much I can never watch those sorts of programmes.

PuppyMonkey · 27/02/2018 09:09

It’s not Piers Norgan though, so that makes it automatically 150% better than ITV.

Even the local bulletins cover a large area. You need your local bbc radio for local road and school closures ( bbc radio Gloucestershire, Humberside, Wiltshire etc)
