I'm in Scotland and about to fill out the online consultation form about the proposed amendments to the Gender Recognition Act. While I'm aware that most people are objecting to this issue on the (very valid and important) basis of its potential impact on women and girls I would like to highlight the restrictions it will place on everyone's freedom of speech.
I want to do this partly because freedom of speech restrictions will impact everyone, men and boys included (it may become a hate crime to say something like "because only men can suffer from testicular cancer" or "gay men don't want to have sex with people with vaginas"), and I think this needs to be pointed out. I also want to do it because I know that many people who support genderism do not understand that this is where support for these beliefs is taking us. I've seen some people online saying "transwomen are women" and calling others bigots when they disagree and then a few tweets later they say something that is completely incompatible with their own stated beliefs "e.g. "because only women can get pregnant". They have not yet understood "transwomen are women" is not a stand alone belief.
So I'm looking to collect examples of politicians (in particular Scottish politicians but anyone British) who support genderism but don't realise that they still hold the very beliefs they themselves are decrying as bigotted. Will anyone help me?
