Just that really. I feel like Momentum are wolves in sheeps clothing. Very worrying, especially I imagine for London's Jews Sad.

Momentum, Agent Cob's Labour & the Communist Party of Britain is having a 'cooperation meeting' next month to coordinate on joint aims & activities apparently.

Seriously!? Although in al honesty I'm not surprised.

Bloody hell Shock

Xulishesthepilot · 23/02/2018 21:32

Momentum are scary? Pfft. Having a life-threatening illness that requires an ambulance attending under the current Tory government, THAT'S scary.

I have, and regularly have to be blur lighted to hospital thank you. Last time was last week.

I have also experienced the rise of anti semitism.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 23/02/2018 21:40

Near me they removed a well respected candidate with fantastic Labour credentials for being ‘too working class’ and replaced him with a Momentumite. I am a Tory but they stand no chance of getting in near me. I would like to vote Lib Dem as they have a good record but I don’t think they stand a chance either. I’m going to tactically vote Green to try and keep Labour out next election.

Yeah. Try getting an ambulance in Venezuela. Or a paracetamol for that matter.

Commuterface · 23/02/2018 21:59

Interesting views of this thread. I’m seeing Labour’s core voters unable to vote for Labour as it stands today but the question is who does the Labour Party represent today and do they have enough support to win an election? A frightening thought

hibbledibble · 23/02/2018 22:10

The reason the Labour party members are being ousted in favour of the momentum branch is the absolute corruption and apathy of the current local councillors. Locals, who usually have no interest in politics, have formed a grassroots campaign. I laud them.

Haringey council are extremely inept, and even worse, corrupt. The Labour run council has a legacy of cutting services to the most vulnerable: including early years, the disabled, and the elderly. This has been done selectively, so as to worst effect those in the poorest parts of the borough, as the council cynically sees them as easy targets. This is because those in the most deprived areas are less likely to complain. The whole situation is revolting and I welcome change, even if it is not ideal. I say that as a Jew.

hibbledibble · 23/02/2018 22:11

If anyone would like to see a shining example of the corruption in Haringey council, Google 'Haringey development vehicle'

I have quite the collection of illnesses at the mo - one of which was life threatening.

Under the current & previous Tory administration I have had speedy access to consultants (5 different consultants in 5 different specialisations in the last 6 months alone!) and 2 operations with only a few weeks waiting time.

UpstartCrow · 23/02/2018 22:14

Both sides are as bad as each other imo. I cant vote for either in good conscience, and that's yet another detail that makes my country feel more like pre war Germany than the country I grew up in.

well then you would know not to vote for the socialist party that blame all their problems on a small section of people.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/02/2018 22:42

Where are all the decent politicians? I can't vote Tory and in its current state I can't vote Labour either. A LibDem vote round here is a wasted vote, and in any event I understand they're keen on self-ID, which is a no no for me. Greens out for the same reason. Women's Equality Party a total joke.

I've said this before but from the outside it seems to me that Momentum are scarily like Militant Tendency. When I went to university in 1980 I joined the Labour Club and was gobsmacked to discover that it was dominated by Trotskyists. They attempted to recruit me but I was scared off by their airy talk of compulsory community meetings replacing elections with secret ballots. I'd read far too much Orwell to be impressed by that. I left Labour and have steered clear of organised politics ever since.

HelenaDove · 23/02/2018 22:49

hibble Labour have been ignoring social housing tenants for a long time. The attitude to women is not the only reason they are hemoraging votes. Ignoring and/or belittling their core demographic wont have helped.

We had some problems with our HA towards the end of last year and after sharing it on social media i did get one response and an offer of help from a UKIP councillor. And i hadnt tagged them in. As for every other official...............tumbleweed.

SersioulycanitgetWORSE · 23/02/2018 22:57

Wolves in sheep's clothing Grin isn't that the symbol of labour...

Eltonjohnssyrup · 23/02/2018 23:06

Ditto here. Had problems getting a referral from GP initially (obstructive) but had full gynae investigation done between Xmas and now from referral to tests to results. Similar story for elderly Gran with health issues and decent health/social care support for a relative with a chronic illness.

Had to use a Children’s A&E twice recently (once blue lighted) and they were fucking amazing with not much wait.

Good experience with maternity and SCBU in last few years—much better than under Labour in same unit—.

A&E is in crisis but that’s more to do with nobody wanting to work there because it’s been fucked since Labour screwed up the GP contract.

I am not really seeing much evidence of the crisis.

NewYearNewMe18 · 23/02/2018 23:14

can;t be any worse than a lot of Tory councils who sold everything off to the lowest bidder, can't now meet basic needs for stat services and are going bankrupt

I suppose if the books hadn't needed balancing after Labour decided to carpet bomb the middle east (a) we might have some maintained infrastructure (b) some magic money to invest in the NHS (c) a few less academies (d) and a few less terrorist attacks.

Corbyn will be eaten up and spat out by Momentum, he is their puppet.

TerfyMcTerface · 23/02/2018 23:15

Basically, the choice is:

Wolves in sheep’s clothing (Labour / Momentum)
or
Wolves in wolves’ clothing ( Tory).

Splendid.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 23/02/2018 23:16

Corbyn will be eaten up and spat out by Momentum, he is their puppet.

Yep.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 23/02/2018 23:16

Yes, and if Labour hadn’t saddled the NHS with PFI contracts which mean NHS trusts are paying out half their budgets into private companies profits rather than on healthcare.

PerfPower · 23/02/2018 23:24

Bromentum are a frightening prospect. I will never understand how any woman could vote for labour now, I have voted labour in the past, never again. For the few (

NewYearNewMe18 · 23/02/2018 23:31

And schools were PFI as well.
