To think Universal Job Match is shit?

This is a site that if you are on JSA you have to use. You put in your skills and up comes every day jobs that are matched that you are supposed to apply for. If you don't you have to explain why.

I have been matched with jobs that need a Civil Engineering Degree, which I have not got, because I meet a couple of the general requirements such as experience of managing staff. Also nursing managers - I am not a qualified nurse. I am sick of wasting time having to explain on the site why these jobs are not suitable.

it keeps suggesting jobs in care homes

I get these jobs a lot in my results.

I do use it occasionally for job searches. Last week I saw voluntary work advertised. Why the hell is voluntary work being advertised this way??

I swear if you remove the Avon, the mlm, and other assorted scams there’s very little there.

The entire system is designed to grind you down and make you feel worthless.

It didn’t exist 12 years ago.

It's a ball-ache for employers as well. Our HR team and managers regularly complain that they have hundreds of applicants who don't meet the minimum required qualifications, experience etc.
I know many recommend "going for it" if you don't quite meet the requiremends but have other qualities which might go in your favour, but many applicants aren't suitable at all. If they're coming via the UJM that may partially explain it.

When I was on JSA a few years (8) back they had the job search points and website and I found similar. I was either being offered jobs that required qualifications I didn't have, or jobs up to 40 miles away. (I was a non-driver at that point).

The problem is you are tracked on what you do in terms of applying for jobs. Your benefits depends on your advisor being happy with what actions you have taken. I suspect that is behind the excess and unsuitable applications.

On your job centre online profile there is a section where you can add your own text. So in here you can type in what jobs you have applied for. These jobs dont have to be from the universal job match, they can be from local source, internet etc. Also how much time you have spent job searching, rewriting CV, going for interviews, doing courses. The point is that you make an effort to job hunt.

Oh for goodness sakes stop being so dramatic. I’m in the system, right in it, and whilst it can be frustrating at times, it’s certainly not designed to “grind” me down.

I my area UJM is the dumping ground for impossible jobs.
On the line of 3.5 hours cleaning every other week or night work ...10pm - 2pm Friday - Tuesday (cleaning of course!) on min wage. Somebody is having a laugh.
I agree, it needs a complete overhaul. To many scams and not the right filters to be useful.
