To remove this stupid, immature, ugly tattoo myself.

I got a tattoo when I was 17 - a standard transfer one, loads and loads of people got it at that time - yes, a stupid dolphin. It is behind my hip and I can't really see it, DH doesn't care. My kids both think its stupid and ugly. I hate it. I don't know why my hatred for it has grown so much. I love dolphins, wildlife, all animals but this fucking tattoo..... I really don't want it there when we go abroad for the first time in 4 years this summer.

I went for laser removal (only place within 50 miles of here) and the man was incredibly creepy so I left. It will apparently take a minimum of 8 sessions at £50 each - WTF?! This fucking tattoo cost £10 and is only 1x2.5 cm in size! WIBU to just numb it and sand it off with DH Dremel whilst everyone is out. Yes, it will hurt like a bastard but I want it gone and that would do it.

Does anyone have a better idea?

Why do t you make a start on the laser. Even if if isn't gone this time it's going and you'll feel better having made a start.
You can spread the sessions out.

Thiscantreallybehappening · 23/02/2018 11:53

OP, don't do any "home" methods. Why don't you try another tattoo place and if you feel more comfortable start the treatment there because it might not take 8 sessions. You might be happy after 2 or 3 sessions the tattoo might have faded significantly enough for you to feel it has gone out of your life.

LittleDittyAbout · 23/02/2018 11:53

Lol @ Chowmum!

LittleDittyAbout · 23/02/2018 11:55

Op - Get some tattoo covering cream for now, and find another laser person to get rid of it for next year.

We've all done daft things.

TrustNaeFuckerEver · 23/02/2018 11:56

Forget the sander, get yourself a scalpel and do what Torz Reynolds did.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 23/02/2018 11:56

Don’t.

I have “a friend “ who did exactly that... never mind the pain; the infection that set in afterwards and the scar it left behind for many, many years made her wish she’d continued with the laser treatments at the Royal Free hospital in NW London, which are expertly and sensitively done - and the money they make on private treatments funds the treatment of birthmarks and port wine stains on other people who aren’t as daft as those of us who have ill-judged tattoos in our youth

A dolphin on the hip isn’t as bad as most. Take a deep breath and get this in perspective before you do something you regret more than the original tattoo!!

senioritabonita · 23/02/2018 11:58

God you lot all all lovely. I am a bit of an idiot, but I know it and also have some self control.
Okay no Dremel, no acid, no nothing - you’re all absolutely right and I don’t want to be found, arse in tha air, blood pooled around me when the dc get in later - also don’t have time for hospital treatment this weekend Grin

I really appreciate you all. Even those who suggested tattoo fixers. I am now tempted just to see how truly vile it would be. I just know I’d get confused and end up with a massive clockwork leg or something. Maybe with a top hat 🎩. I like that suggestion.

And yes, it is a bad association tattoo - something I did for or rather against someone else and I feel sad about my teenage years and what I had to go thru and it is always there saying ‘oooooo you silly girl, you thought a cute likkle tattoo would make you cute like all the other girls’

And it is blurred and ugly now, and I really hate it. Thanks everyone, really, I feel sensible again now.

Go to a laser clinic and think about talking to a doctor about these feelings, seriously, your considering self harming to remove a tattoo, when there is a number of safe options to do instead, that’s not healthy. Flowers

senioritabonita · 23/02/2018 12:00

Jesus that mad woman who cut it off - yowzers!

OP posts:
TheSockGoblin · 23/02/2018 12:00

Wow, are you serious? It's a dolphin, not a Nazi symbol!

Maybe you ought to look at why you are considering putting yourself through loads of extra physical pain for a mistake years ago? And if it's really that small and on your hip why on earth are you so het up about it?

Not like it's on show on a regular basis is it?

This is a very weird thread.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 23/02/2018 12:00

Today 11:14 LifeBeginsAtGin

I predict tattoo removal will be big business soon, when everyone regrets their permanent black splodges, sleeves and tribal bands.

Keep looking elsewhere.

Yes, absolutely this!

CupOfJoe · 23/02/2018 12:02

Surely you're just replacing one ugly mark for another if you do that though? If you can't see it, fuck it. I have a tattoo on my wrist I hate. I just ignore it.

TheSockGoblin · 23/02/2018 12:02

Also if you're worried about things being 'stupid' and 'immature' is sanding off a small tattoo rather than saving some money to get it removed safely if that's what you truly want, REALLY a good way to 'absolve' yourself of those traits?

Hmm
senioritabonita · 23/02/2018 12:02

Really, truly thanks for caring about me this morning. Thank you. I’m going to sit outside for 15 mins with a cuppa and thank fuck I am 42 and can do and not do what the fuck I want with myself. Thank you 😊 so so much

Pearlsaringer · 23/02/2018 12:09

Please don’t hurt yourself OP, it will devastate your DC if they think they have driven you to it by being critical, however jokingly.

TrustNaeFuckerEver · 23/02/2018 12:09

Jesus that mad woman who cut it off - yowzers!

She also cut off half her little finger with a pair of boltcutters - just because she felt like it.

OwtFerNowt · 23/02/2018 12:11

Enjoy your cuppa OP Brew take care Flowers

OnionKnight · 23/02/2018 12:12

Don't be stupid.

silkpyjamasallday · 23/02/2018 12:14

I know someone who did a DIY tattoo removal, because on a drunken night at uni his friends were doing stick and pokes and gave him a swastika on his forearm. He cut it out with a razor blade, this didn't work very well so he burnt the remainder with a lighter, the scarring isn't pretty but it did work. I wouldn't recommend it though, just get a new tattoo to cover it up if the dolphin is only small, cheaper, quicker and less painful than lazer removal.

RoseWhiteTips · 23/02/2018 12:14

Tattoos are unsightly, anyway. At least some people are honest enough to say they regret having them. Most will argue to the nth degree that this is never the case. Hmmm

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 23/02/2018 12:14

Phew! Really glad you’ve seen sense seniorbonita

Cliveybaby · 23/02/2018 12:18

Bloody hell... wish I hadn't clicked on that!!

You are of course entitled to your opinion but not everyone who has tattoos regrets them - I love all of mine!

cygnet12 · 23/02/2018 12:22

Please just try another removal place if you don't want a cover up. Or, just embrace the dolphin.

TrustNaeFuckerEver · 23/02/2018 12:23

@Cliveybaby

I know, hence the warning! I've seen it a few times in the past but it still freaks me out. The finger-chop was pretty grim too.
