To be fed up of being asked for money?

Sat in the station and I’ve been approached 5 times whilst drinking my coffee.

I’m not a heartless bitch, and I give to charity but this is really getting on my last nerve now.

We get asked for money whenever we visit our son in the city where he's at university (and not just by him!). It's not just once either, we'll be asked several times. We were followed once by two women who'd asked.

Where I live (coastal town) lots of drug addicts sitting around begging. People give them money - I think mostly to feel better about themselves so I don't see it as even altruistic. In reality they're just giving the addicts money for drugs. I used to know a beggar and he had somewhere to live, a nasty attitude, and just used it as a source of income from gullible middle-aged, middle-class shoppers!

Obviously some of the drug addicts/homeless could do with some support, I don't know, a kind word, again I don't know. But hard cash - probably not a good idea.
