Ok. I have just opened my DD school report. She is currently in year 10. DD is always keen to do homework (girl thing I think) and doesn't whinge about the education at school but occasionally a person that annoys her. Which incidentally is bring sorted out. 99 percent of her predicted grades are over level 5 apart from OCR ICT ;level M, which the school recently have just changed their course mid GCSE! Also Maths a grade 4b. Her expected grades are all in the region of 8 apart from Science which is 7, Maths which is 7 and the new exam OCR ICT a D*.

The report states approach to learning which us all good and some excellent. The progress however says Insufficent on a lot if them.

I'm feeling that targets set too high or not going to stress about it as they will all over the old style Grade C.

School says we should speak to teachers if Insufficent ...

It’ll all be linked to her individual targets, which she was allocated at birth by Michael Gove.

Well, it depends on her starting point, doesn't it? If she went to secondary with high 5s at KS2, I'd not be very impressed if she can out with all 5s at GCSE. Conversely, if she went to secondary with KS2 at 3 or low 4, I'd be pretty happy with all 5s!

Only you know the answer to that.
Personally, I want my children to try hard in all subjects, even those they don't like, even those they're not very good at. It's the effort that counts. If their effort is good, then progress should be good, even if it's from a low starting level.

For example, my Y7 is below national expectations for physical education. I know that- when she began juniors she couldn't run, skip, or hop! Could barely jump. She can now run a km for cross country, plays hockey, netball, football etc- ok she's never going to be in the Olympics, but her progress is super, and we're very proud of how far she's come- because we know she's made a tremendous effort.

I thought the day targets were set from eyfs profile so 4 or 5 years old.
Ridiculous I know.
I feel my dd is going to com acropper too.
All her targets are 7. She has no hope of achieving that.
So no help really but I feel your pain.

Day equals SATS.
