Okay please bear with me...

So for a while now I've been looking for clubs things in my area I can go to to make freinds and find new interests...i live in smallish city so you'd think there would be something out there...turns out no there isn't! I can't find anything at all and I'm really getting desperate!

Now I have a church by me that I walk past often, I seems they always seem to have things going on in there and it feels very warm and inviting.

I am not religious at all.. in any way...literally never felt anything for religion.

Would I be turned away? Is it wrong of me to want to go in and get involved when the religion itself doesn't interest Me?

Mine would welcome you irregardless Smile not sure it's true of everywhere but you won't know until you try it!

I am a churchgoer and we run Mother and Baby clubs, Lunch sessions, Playgroups, Drama groups etc., all are welcome, they are not churchgoers. We do not have hymns, lectures, or push religion in anyones direction, we create a comfortable atmosphere for everyone and it works well. So go along I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

It would be a shite church if they didn't welcome you. Go!

I'm joining one soon, I'm going to have a semi-empty house in 1.5 years and I'll have a major void to fill. More for community than anything else, really.

Churches tend to be pretty welcoming of everyone.

There are lots of people who attend church who aren’t that religious or whose belief in God is a bit shaky. That’s perfectly normal.

If you are attending a service for the first time, someone should say hello and welcome you but there’s no obligation to attend more than you want to.

Some people go every week, some once a month, some a few times a year, it’s all fine.

You are right, it’s a good way to become more involved in the community.

No, you'll be ok, give it a try. I'm an atheist but still go to midnight mass with my old mom.
