Years ago Gordon Brown MP came onto MN to do a web chat.

Someone asked him what his favourite biscuit was and he refused to answer and dismissed it as a trivial question. MNers were not pleased at being dismissed.

It all got a bit silly and ended up with the jammy dodger emoji (as he eventually revealed that as his favourite).

Receiving a biscuit (particularly a poster’s first biscuit) is MN’s biggest burn.

Though I believe it technically means “no comment” it is used as a way of telling the poster that you think they are beyond contempt.

Occasionally they are offered humorously or affectionately.

Aha! Thank you for that @cavender. I wondered why the most sarcastic posters were also dishing out biscuits. Most odd! Good stuff to know x

If you’re new to MN Saturn there’s quite a few things like this that will crop up on threads.

MN is a community and as such it has in jokes, historical reminiscences and common cultural references.

People are usually very happy to explain stuff if you ask.

Otherwise wandering through the Classics board can be very helpful.
