To dislike my shape

I am overweight at the moment, though slowly losing it, but it isn’t just weight related.

I am short, but I’ve got terrible proportions. Massive belly that’s never flat even when I’m thin, it’s a weird B shape. Worst though are my legs. They are ridiculously short. I am like a Shetland pony with a barrel belly and short stumpy legs.

I am permanently uncomfortable because my legs don’t touch the floor and dangle down so my arse goes numb.

Clothes never fit. I have to get them altered which is a lot of faff.

It just gets me down.

No one else have this problem? Smile

You're being pretty harsh on yourself! Simplistically, change what you can, accept what you can't.
Focus on the bits of you that you do like. Getting your clothes altered makes them a perfect and unique fit Smile
At home I'd maybe be looking at a lower chair or a footstool to take the pressure off of the backs of your legs.

We've all got annoying body quirks but unless you're heading in extreme surgery, it's easier to learn to love what we have I reckon.

I have the belly problem - even when I had a BMI of 21, I still couldn't wear a bikini because of the flab 😡.

Not much you can really do about your leg length, although I do sympathise!!

ceepeeree · 20/02/2018 22:08

you need to adjust your chair to get your feet onto the floor when sitting otherwise you can do some damage to your back (as I did)..

ceepeeree · 20/02/2018 22:09

btw, I'm sure you're nowhere near as awful as you describe. Be kind to yourself Smile

YABU because it won't do any good. I agree it's probably nothing like as bad as you think it is, but there are pluses to not being a stunner. I am tolerably bearable in appearance (DH thinks I am very pretty, but he is wrong), but I am quite grateful when I see women my age starting to agonise about 'losing their looks'. Getting older is much more bearable if you didn't have so much to lose Grin

Jaygee61 · 20/02/2018 22:24

darknightskystars do you sit at a desk using a computer, if so you need to get a workstation assessment done, and have adjustments done so your feet are touching the floor. With a footrest if necessary.

Re your leg length I am sure you will look more in proportion when you have los5 weight, so keep at it!

Most people have body quirks and don't fit standard sizes in various different ways. My arms are a bit shorter than you'd expect for my height so I can't usually get jackets/coats that fit. I have to get them altered or fold/roll the sleeves up.

With the legs not touching the floor, I think most women that are average height (5ft 4in) or shorter will experience similar. Most places are designed for taller people (men) and fixed height chairs are too high for anyone else. At work and at home definitely investigate some of the ideas for getting comfortable.

Regarding stomach shape, have you any other symptoms of fibroids? A good friend of mine could never lose her stomach "fat", then eventually it was discovered that she had massive fibroids.

I'm an apple and it's shit! If you have bigger legs/bum but a nice slim waist, you can look sexy. If you have slim legs but a big round gut and boobs perched on top of them, nobody sees anything other than fat 😭😭😭. Oh and it's often a sign of metabolic issues and an increased risk of diabetes, to add to the fun.

It used to bother me a lot, but as I've gotten older, I try to remind myself that at least it all works - I'm still here, still healthy, and many people sadly have a LOT more actual problems than I do.

But I'm still having a boob reduction when DC2 is here and has been breastfed!!! At least that will turn me from a B to an O...

I'm the same OP. I find clever dressing helps.

I suit Phase Eight ruched dresses. They hide my tummy and pull in my waist. The benefits of wearing a dress is no-one knows where my legs start!

SaucyJack · 20/02/2018 22:47

I hear ya!

I actually don't have legs that are short for my height (5ft), but it's so hard to get comfy on chairs that are designed for people a good 8 inches taller because I can't get my feet flat on the fucking floor.
