should I get it, has anybody ever had it and if so does it work?

Have a look in Style and Beauty - lots of discussion on there about Botox and how lots of expensive face creams do nothing. I’ve had Botox twice. Loved it the first time. Had a bit too much the second time and looked a bit “severe” for the first eight weeks of it (when my face has been captured in lots of a good friend’s wedding pics 😫) No one else noticed - but I did. I was happy with it after it started to wear off a bit.
Check if there is a “baby Botox” option as sometimes less is more. You can add later, but you can’t take away if it’s too much
In spite of feeling meh the second time round, I’d get it done again, but would want v little and for the change to be subtle.

Surely once you start you have to keep it up and that must be expensive?

Birdsgottafly · 22/02/2018 08:34

Of course you don't have to keep it up. Just like you don't have to out make-up on everyday, or keep your hair one colour.

OP, look for local recommendations. I use a ex nurse, who gives an honest opinion. I went down the filler route.

How old are you and what are you wanting to change?

I get Botox round my eyes every 6 months and it costs £100. I love it. It smooths me out (not completely as the wrinkles under the eye are too near muscle or something like that) but it just makes me feel and look less tired. And I know people will disagree and tell me it's obvious I've had Botox but no one can tell.

The stereotype of the pulled expressionless face is not what most Botox is.

And I have it done in a clinic by a registered nurse.

AngryCrispLady · 22/02/2018 08:42

No, you don’t have to keep it up. I’ve not had it for about two years. Be under no illusions that you will look younger - in my opinion it makes you look fresh and much MUCH less tired.
£100 a good price, Nickynack... i paid more than that Sad

Birdsgottafly · 22/02/2018 08:47

Just to add Botox isn't the only option. As I said I prefer fillers but there's also Fibroblasting and other treatments.

HolyMountain · 22/02/2018 08:48

I’ve had it and am planning on getting it done again in the spring .

It’s about looking refreshed and less tired rather than completely wrinkle free. I’m 49 and it’s worth every penny , £250 from my clinic.

Thanks for the messages.

I just want to smooth out the lines on my forehead and in between my eyebrows.

I've not had botox, but I've had lip fillers and personally I don't think there is anything wrong with a little bit of tweaking here and there. Botox and fillers are both temporary and you definitely don't have to keep up with it once you have it done. I followed a few cosmetic nurses in my area on instagram, so I could see their work. I looked at recommendations and chose the one who came with the best reputation. I read a quote online which said, 'there is no such thing as a bad filler, just a bad surgeon'. So make sure you go with someone with a good reputation. Ask around and don't go for the cheapest option.

MollyWantsACracker · 22/02/2018 10:34

I have it done every mos or so. Worth every cent.
I have just a little, and even my own mother couldn’t tell, she just thought I looked rested and fresh.
I don’t touch the crow’s feet (they’re not bad, I kind of like them, and I’m 48 fgs) but forehead lines - no.
I have nose to corner of mouth filler once a year. Very subtle difference.
I don’t smoke, never did sun, good bone structure - this works for me.
Good luck op Smile
