Broody with a newborn

Just checking how insane I am.

My little DD is 3 weeks old and over the past couple of days I have felt completely broody! I was having lovely cuddles with her yesterday and just imagined having a lovely big bump at the same time. I do miss feeling full of baby even though I am over the moon to be finally holding/caring for my daughter.

I jokingly mentioned it to DP when he got home and he practically backed out of the room looking both terrified and appalled Grin I am allowed to have another baby next year so am chilled about it all, it's just such an unexpected and powerful feeling!

Am I mad or has anyone else felt like this with a newborn?

I was pg again when DS was 3 months. Have fun 😉

Trinity66 · 20/02/2018 14:19

You are little bit mad I think Grin

inappropriateraspberry · 20/02/2018 14:22

I'd blame it on the hormones and wait a bit!

lookingforthecorkscrew · 20/02/2018 14:22

God I'm only 23 weeks and have just about had enough of feeling 'full of baby' Grin

PaperdollCartoon · 20/02/2018 14:23

Your hormones are probably all over the place still. I’d give yourself a chance to let things settle. My friend has two 11 months apart (not planned) it’s not easy!

Mol1628 · 20/02/2018 14:24

Definitely mad.

PinkHeart5914 · 20/02/2018 14:24

Yes I felt like that.

My oldest 2 are 11 months apart and I’ve recently had baby number 3 so I’m now proud mummy to 3 dc under 3 years old!

BaffledMummy · 20/02/2018 14:24

YANBU! After both mine I felt a bit like that. It wore off by about 8 weeks when I was on my knees with exhaustion Grin

JumpingFrogs · 20/02/2018 14:25

Definitely. When I had my second I fretted throughout the pregnancy that I wouldn't love him as much as my firstborn. The moment I held him I realised that of course you love all your children equally, and promptly felt broody for a third. Throughout his babyhood I desperately craved another baby. Took nearly two years to persuade dh, which was a good thing because my third turned out to be twins!

Countingsheeeep · 20/02/2018 14:30

Pregnant again by the time DD was 4 months old...he's due in 6 weeks...not mad at all.

LokiBear · 20/02/2018 14:31

I never felt that. I have a 5 year age gap between my two and I honestly feel as though I timed them perfectly. I know that sounds ridiculous because most people think they have the perfect gap because they do what worked for them, but I feel so grateful for having 5 years to enjoy dd1, and when dd2 came alone dd1 was at school so I got to have time just me and dd2. Let your hormones settle and then think on it on it once they have. Enjoy the snuggles x

peachgreen · 20/02/2018 14:34

Mine is 2.5 weeks and I think you're absolutely bonkers! I do miss being pregnant but only because it was so much easier than having a newborn, haha.

balljuggla · 20/02/2018 14:39

Thanks for the replies Smile

I had a c-section so am not supposed to get pregnant for a little while anyway...it doesn't stop the broodiness though.

I do want two babies close together, then in a couple of years DP may agree to a third if circumstances allow..!

I am mad.

@peachgreen I know, right! I was signed off work with SPD but that was still easier than looking after a newborn Grin

This happened to me too after having DS2! I'm sure I read somewhere it's relatively common. It seemed to wear off after a week or so.

FloydOnThePull · 20/02/2018 14:46

I'm 25 weeks and have just spent the last 20 mins with what feels like dd kicking me directly in the bumhole and thinking 'I can't wait til you're out!'

I think you're nuts, but who cares!

Congrats on your lovely snuggly baby Smile

Just wait and see. Early days, OO. Early days. Wink
Congratulations!
