I’m so stumped! I struggled at Christmas and I’m struggling again. She’s turning 14 and is very into sport, a little into makeup/fashion, and likes reading and music. But honestly, I’m just looking for any inspiration (I tried posting something similar in teens but didn’t get much) - what did you get your teens for their last birthday?

Some of the Christmas threads might be useful (ignoring anything festive!):

I usually ask for a wish list.
They ask for things like albums, concert tickets, band shirts, video games, clothes, shoes, or cash.

Subscription box! Get her a 3-month subscription (or longer, depending how much you want to spend) to something like Birchbox.

Oh, also Owlcrate is great if she likes YA/fantasy kind of books.

Your young lady, being a sporty lass, may enjoy indoor skydiving: www.iflyworld.co.uk/
I have a teenager, but he prefers money/ gift cards for favourite clothes shops than anything else- although he seems to have a thing for socks. Strange lad...

Sports leggings or nice trainers??

Trinity66 · 20/02/2018 14:57

Is there a band/singer she likes that is touring this year? Tickets to gigs always went down well with mine

Yeah I echo this, I got my son who is almost 14 a ticket to see Ed Sheeran with his friend for Christmas

Things we have done in the past are...
Concert tickets
Comedy shows
We've contributed towards a specific thing they've been saving up for - Xbox, iPad, shoes/boots, clothing, etc.
Horse riding day
Paintballing day
Artwork/sculptures

DD's favourite present at 14/15 was a Tokyo treat subscription, this year she's 17 and wants Reading festival tickets!!

surlycurly · 20/02/2018 15:19

DD is 14 in April. She will get money, some makeup type bits and some art stuff. Her dad may buy her a new phone. Generally I don't spend a fortune on birthdays and I've stopped buying lots of little presents because she doesn't like them.

HorsesCourses · 20/02/2018 15:24

I give my DCs money mostly, now they are older- or games consoles in the past. One DC wants a mini fridge for his bedroom next birthday.
How about sports brand clothes and expensive trainers??? Stationery- I love anything from Paperchase and you can't have too much...
Bag/ rucksack for school or sports activities?

Dc was 15 last week, I transferred cash into his bank account like I’ve done last 2 bdays and Christmas. I got him a tshirt (which he sent me the link to) and some sweets/chocolate so he had a surprise to open.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions - I’ve ended up going for a day trip. Every year at summer we go kayaking in the sea and she really enjoys it so I’ve booked two tickets to do this at the end of March - www.kayakinglondon.com/kayaking-tours-information/little-venice-and-back/

She can take her sister or a friend, or me if I can hack it (baby due in a few weeks, trip at the end of March just after DD’s birthday).

I’m also getting some other little bits and pieces - a new water bottle, something from lush, some more chocolate, and a cactus!

Thank you for all the suggestions, and feel free to keep them coming - I think I’ll be back here in a few months for DD2 Grin

We got Dd a netball post for her 13th bday. One of the most used presents ever!

Echo dot?

That sounds like a brilliant day Tabby. I hope she enjoys it and takes you 😀
