To just want an un-oily face?

I'm posting her for traffic. Sorry.
I've also posted about this before but now I'm desperate for help.

DD (4) just touched my face and said "eurgh my fingers are slimy". I knew my face was oily and have been trying to sort it for the last few months to no avail. I now feel really bad about it :-(.

I started a face care routine last summer (aged 31!). Went with Clinique. Previously slightly oily but spots etc and they have cleared. However a few months ago I noticed my forehead and nose were getting really oily. I've tried stopping 1 of the products in my routine, been in store and got advice, trialled other things, all to no avail.

I posted on here before and got some advice for products, but they were online companies only and my skin is so sensitive I can't buy them incase they don't work. I can't afford to buy things to try them, I need a brand I can get trials for.. very short on money

Please help. I have parents evening tomorrow and am facing taking something to wash my face before the evening as I'm so self conscious about it :-(. I want this to be better!

Can I take the oil? Maybe it would stop my eczema drying my skin out so much it bleeds.

Have you used blotting paper every hour or so? Do you wear a face powder ?

Just sympathising with having skin that hates you tbh FlowersFlowers

Hi everyone, just an update.

I bought blotting papers - thanks for the recommendations!
I went to the Clarins counter yesterday, she recommended 4 products, gave me 2 samples (cleanser and toner).
I used them last night with my own moisturiser and woke up to barely any oil. Miracle!

However, 2 questions..

  1. My face did feel very tight after the toner. Does this mean it's actually too harsh for my skin?
  2. Could it just be that the change has stopped the oil and I'll buy these very expensive products and end up with an oily face again in a few weeks?

Another with hormonal oily skin here. Re foundation - I use mineral powder instead of liquid foundation - it's brilliant. I use Bare Minerals.

@Nicketynac Try Urban Decay eyeshadow primer. It's the only thing that keeps my eyeshadow on.

Also, Clarins have a fantastic foundation for oily skin - think it is called Everlasting. I have tried loads and loads of foundations but the Clarons one is the best.

The toner could be too harsh, or you could just need a good moisturiser to put on afterwards.

If I were you OP I would go into Lush and chat to them, their face stuff is amazing, they have a huge range and the staff will help you find what you need. They will also give you samples if you ask (for free) and I honestly find their products to be the only option for my skin, and they are cruelty and palm oil free, fair trade, and often organic. And definitely no more expensive than any of the traditional brands, and certainly often cheaper.
