Is he being OTT?

We have some chickens in the garden who a male friend very kindly feeds and moves daily when he comes to see to his own chickens down in a field next to us. Saves me a right carry on and chicken friend is passionate about birds and I am just grateful for the three eggs a day they produce! DH announced that once the baby is here he doesn’t want the chickens in the garden anymore as he “doesn’t want chicken friend to see you breast feeding. You need your privacy”

We live in a bungalow with huge windows so If I bf in either the bedroom or the living room where the windows look into the garden and not the bathroom or children’s rooms (um why would I?!) then there is a good possibility that chicken friend could see. However, chicken friend does not normally gawp in through the windows when he’s seeing to the chickens and I have no issue with bf in public. Is DH just being a bit precious and OTT or am I being a bit blaze about getting my tits out willy nilly?
Just wondering!

He is BU. And utterly ridiculous.

Slartybartfast · 19/02/2018 17:58

Silly, and how would he explain the new arrangements

DeathStare · 19/02/2018 17:58

He's not being precious or OTT, he's being controlling. It's YOUR body not his. He has no say whatsoever over who sees you breastfeeding - if you feel comfortable then that is all that matters.

Be careful OP. It sounds like his next demand would be that you stay at home all the time and don't have friends round because he isn't comfortable with your choices about who sees your body.

LIZS · 19/02/2018 17:59

Is he often that controlling? What does he expect to happen when you take the baby out and he/she is hungry?

branstonbaby · 19/02/2018 18:03

He is BU. Take all the help you can get. And I can guarantee that men will not be gazing at your chest while you try to feed your baby. It's a meal time, not private time.

WomanInTheMirrorStaresAtMe · 19/02/2018 18:07

So does he expect you to tend to chickens or will he take over? He is being ridiculous either way.

toolonglurking · 19/02/2018 18:10

He sounds like a complete idiot, what's wrong with someone seeing you breastfeed? Have you asked him what his issue with it is?

negomi90 · 19/02/2018 18:11

So is his plan that you never go out until the baby is weaned? What if you have friends over, will he expect you to feed the baby elsewhere and thus remove yourself from adult conversation? Ask him what he wants to happen when the baby is hungry in public and take it from there.
And yes your DH is being very unreasonable.

mumonashoestring · 19/02/2018 18:12

Wow, so you're not going to be getting out much once little one's here then? Barking.

I hope this is just one of those brain-fart moments that indicate that someone's under stress and is making silly plans to try and feel in control. If not, you need to tread carefully and keep a close eye on how isolated you are.

ooodile · 19/02/2018 18:23

Don't you have curtains or blinds?

MoodyTwo · 19/02/2018 18:29

I sat in my conservatory while breastfeeding the number of posties and delivery people that saw my boob must have been a lot!
But at the time I was that exhausted I couldn't care less, as it was the best view in the house, so nice and warm...
it's your boobs and your house ... and only boobs so I don't see an issue

cookie4640 · 19/02/2018 19:03

I thought he was BU but In a silly protective way rather than controlling, he knows he can’t control me 😉
The chickens would just go in the field with the others but tbh I’ll just tell him not to be so silly and to be quiet ☺️
