To order a takeout just for me?

LIGHTHEARTED

So the power went out here an hour ago and there’s no sign it will be sorted soon. DH has gone to work on nights in my car, his is trapped in the garage behind an electric door. So I’m here all alone, in the dark, no Netflix, nothing. I’m hungry but can’t open the fridge or use the oven. Can’t even boil the kettle to make a brew. Not that I can get the milk anyway. I could heat up some soup on the gas hob, but who the fuck wants soup for tea. Not even got any fresh bread. Angry
So I’m on just eat and contemplating spending the best part of £20 to get some nice person to bring me food Grin
AIBU? Should I just be eating the soup Confused

Why are you even asking? Of course order a takeaway.

AuntMatilda · 18/02/2018 18:53
Grin I've not seen many replies like that on similar threads! Well , you're managing to Mumsnet! How long do you think you're without power-are you getting any updates from anywhere?
skippykips · 18/02/2018 18:53

Just for @AuntMatilda
NO THEY ARE REALLY BAD FOR YOU!

Hehe, enjoy your takeaway Smile

Ikanon · 18/02/2018 18:54

I did on Friday from Wagamamas. DH doesn't like it so we never go but sod it I love it! Takeaway for 1 yummy!

Welshmaenad · 18/02/2018 18:54

In those circumstances I think getting a takeout may be a legal requirement!

Frombothsidesnow · 18/02/2018 18:54

When I lived alone, every Friday night was a takeaway just for me. The local Chinese knew my order. Blush DH doesn't really like Chinese so it's my treat on the rare occasion I'm home alone.

Frombothsidesnow · 18/02/2018 18:55

Oh, and most important for those of us having less fun dinners, what have you ordered? For vicarious enjoyment.

NSEA · 18/02/2018 18:56

Why can’t you open the fridge?

Takeaway

Pregnantgrumpygal · 18/02/2018 18:57

Mmm takeaway is here. They even sent a little tub of ice cream for with dessert which I thought was mayo so dunked a chip in

NSEA · 18/02/2018 18:57

Oh just seen why. Open the fridge!!!

DwangelaForever · 18/02/2018 18:57

Do it! My hubby works to 8pm on a Friday and it's my unofficial takeaway night! He doesn't like chinese food so whenever we get a takeaway together it's always Pizza or Indian so I like having a sneaky solo one 😂🙈

AuntMatilda · 18/02/2018 18:58

It's one of life's little pleasures :)

like eating something indulgent in your car and pretending you're stuck in traffic not that I ever do that obviously

tatty1010 · 18/02/2018 19:06

I had to read you're first post twice, I thought your DH was stuck in the garage and you were more worried about what you were having for tea Grin

Pregnantgrumpygal · 18/02/2018 19:09

tatty I just choked on a chip!! 😂

Buxbaum · 18/02/2018 19:09

Is DH still stuck in the garage? I know this is a lighthearted thread but you need to look at that! You're supposed to have either a manual release or an alternative exit from the garage if you have a powered garage door for precisely this scenario...

Buxbaum · 18/02/2018 19:10

Oh no, misread your OP - thought HE was stuck, not his car!!!

Notevilstepmother · 18/02/2018 19:14

It’s best not to open the freezer if possible but the fridge is probably ok.

CharisMater · 18/02/2018 19:16

I'm single, I do it quite often. I have sometimes ordered something for the next night too, had a bit of both knowing I have tomorrow's dinner and washing up sorted :-)

Pregnantgrumpygal · 18/02/2018 19:16

Grin the garage door does have a manual release but it’s directly over the centre of his car so no chance of opening it while car is in there. It does have a normal door to get in and out too. He’s definitely not trapped in there haha. I seen him drive off in my car Grin

Enjoy your takeaway.

And you can open the fridge - just dont keep doing it 👍

LaurieF · 18/02/2018 19:21

Hahaha! I always used to order takeaway just for me when I lived alone... but used to order enough for two... shout up to imaginary friend that food was here when I opened the door and reheat the extra portion the next night just so the delivery driver didn't think I was lovely and sad Grin

brizzledrizzle · 18/02/2018 19:23

Go for it, I do and it's lovely not to have to think of what to cook for two nights unless I have had the rest for breakfast

PerpendicularVincent · 18/02/2018 19:23

One of my guilty pleasure is going to the local all you can eat Chinese buffet on my own so no one can judge my consumption of prawn toast dipped in satay sauce

DenPerry · 18/02/2018 19:35

Why are you asking this OP, of course you should get one! I always have it on my own. I had no idea about the fridge thing Grin

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 18/02/2018 19:54

I often get takeaways when I WFH so I do t have to share with anyone.

Serious note though- have you notified your electricity distribution company about the power cut?
