To wear my wedding/engagement ring on a chain....

So things aren't looking to good for H and I (been a long time coming, just hoping that now both of us admitting divorce is the only answer will mean it happens this time and we won't just fall back into old patterns because it's the easy route) and I can't stop wondering what to do with my wedding and engagement ring.

Backstory is that they both my DGM's and the idea of not wearing fills me with panic because they were HER's, not because of any connection with H.

Would it be totally weird if I wore them on a chain around my neck? Or should I just put them away until DS or DD is old enough to want them.

I don’t think it’s weird because they are sentimental for other reasons.
Could you wear them on the other hand?

TheHulksPurplePants · 18/02/2018 12:04

Won't fit the other hand. I just feel like I'll be constantly explaining and everyone will think it's because of DH. Not DGM.

Put them away, chains are too easy to break/get snatched.

On a chain sounds lovely. You could also get them resized to fit other fingers/hands

My DM had her engagement ring resized for the other hand after her divorce from my F. It was her great grandmother's and she refused to stop wearing it because of him and the association.

Get them remodelled into another style? I’m thinking of getting some inherited jewellery made into a more modern style and less obviously wedding/engagement rings. Maybe get your Dds input

Just keep wearing them on your left hand. It's nobody else's business.

You can have them made into another piece of jewellery. Best to go see an independent jewellery maker and they should be able to come up with a design you’re happy with.

Thanks for the suggestions. Not sure I want to remodel them, but resizing and wearing on my right hand is a good idea.
