... to hate the phrase "fell pregnant"

just that really. Have read a couple of articles over the weekend where someone has "fallen" pregnant or "fell" pregnant and it really pisses me off. Am I being a bit irrational?

I agree - 'falling' pregnant is incredibly archaic.

But the more modern 'we're pregnant' is just awful.

I used to work in an industry where it was common to use the phrase 'fallen out of work' meaning someone had lost their job.
I think 'fallen pregnant' and 'fallen out of work' both imply the person is not responsible for what's happened, which usually isn't the case!
