Wedding Dress Advice

Posting for traffic, sorry!

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good second-hand wedding dress site. Maybe even a business who makes wedding dresses. I'm even interested if you're trying to sell a dress.

I'm currently a size 16, hoping to get down to a 14 soon! Preferably with sleeves that shows some cleavage.

TIA

Try Preloved.

Nomorechickens · 16/02/2018 23:28

Oxfam have a wedding dress shop. Don't know what it's like but worth a look

WelshBay · 16/02/2018 23:51

Fab will take a look!

I sold mine in Still White

Indigo89 · 16/02/2018 23:59

*on Still White.

And, bought bridesmaid dresses on a site called Sell My Wedding or Buy My Wedding, can't quite remember but they had loads of good decor bits for sale too at bargain prices.

WelshBay · 17/02/2018 00:30

Excellent thank You!

bridalreloved.co.uk

Quite a few branches around the country now; lovely ladies!

Cardilover · 17/02/2018 00:54

Most shop samples of wedding dresses are size 14, so maybe look out for sample sales too? I managed to get mine for a fraction of the full price but still got the same standard of service from the shop as I would if I’d ordered made to measure.

LittleBlueFish · 17/02/2018 06:49

Try wed2be. Not second hand but all their dresses are under £500ish and they have all different sizes and styles available to try on. I went to the southampton store but there’s several around the country

I would follow some bridal shops on Facebook in your local area - they often have huge discount sales where they shift old stock and also sell package deals (dress, veil, tiara/hair accessory) for a good price. I didn't realise this until after I bought my dress - I could have saved a lot if I had known!

Depending on what you want to spend, Try Romantica of Devon. My parents gave me a stupidly high budget for my dress but I fell in love with a Romantica dress and it was £375 brand new. My dad nearly fell off his chair!

Lipsy are doing wedding dresses for £200

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 17/02/2018 07:40

I got mine from Chichi London for £64 and it was stunning- fit perfectly.

Asos also do a wide selection of dresses :)

mamamalt · 19/02/2018 15:31

Has anyone bought any of the lipsy dresses? Love one of the plain satin ones but not sure what it will be like in real life!

Hillarious · 19/02/2018 15:36

Cleavage and wedding dress - good mix or not? I think not.

GrimDamnFanjo · 19/02/2018 15:38

I married in an off the peg from Monsoon. I think it was about £100 so it's worth looking at non wedding shops. I think Phase8 may also have similar.

bridgetreilly · 19/02/2018 15:44

Definitely worth looking at high street wedding dresses too - Monsoon, Phase Eight, French Connection, Whistles etc. etc.

Not sure what your budget is but that’s a lovely shop. Lots of ‘exclusive’ brands (jenny packham etc) sold second hand, and you can try them on in a boutique setting! Most still 2k upwards though x

Thehop · 19/02/2018 15:47

Still white is good

I wanted sleeves and needed to breastfeed. Bought a trap less dress and ordered a lace off shoulder bolero to go over top. It worked well

Saladd0dger · 19/02/2018 16:56

Quiz clothing have some under £100!

Aprilshowerswontbelong · 19/02/2018 16:57

Ebay £25!!

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 19/02/2018 16:59

Light in the Box are reasonably priced.

roses2 · 19/02/2018 17:08

Another vote for eBay. You’ll get a good bargain there.

Tmtiger · 19/02/2018 20:21

Bride's do good. Profits go towards help stop child marriages.

Writersblock2 · 19/02/2018 20:33

I got mine on eBay. Two of them. We won’t talk about that. One is an unworn Eliza Jane Howell sample in size 12 (really a U.K. 10) and the other is a used Maggie Sottero in UK 16 (really about a large U.K. 11/small 14). Selling both when I can be bothered to get them both online.

But yes, eBay is the place, IMO. I sear he’s sites for months.
