Battered sausage or saveloy? DH is getting chips for us and DS1, so we can lounge around and scoff them whilst binge watching.
I don't want to splash out on fish, as it seems like a seaside treat to me. So sausage it is. Just which one? I haven't had either for ages and so don't want to get the wrong one Grin

Or am I doing it all wrong, and need to order a different item off the menu?

I'd get both and sweet and sour sauce :)

minicheddars90 · 16/02/2018 20:34

Always imagine saveloys to taste better than they do.

Battered sausage, chips and curry sauce!

LadySainsburySeal · 16/02/2018 20:34

Saveloy and battered sausage, mushy peas and a pickled egg... you'll be farting still on Monday Grin

doctorcuntybollocks · 16/02/2018 20:35

I don't eat meat but my advice in this type of food dilemma is always 'one of each'.

Lipniki · 16/02/2018 20:37

OMG, I need to stop looking at this thread... Drooooollllll

Mileymoocow · 16/02/2018 20:39

That's a smokey sausage! I'd have one of each Grin but I'd rather have Fish, chips and mushy peas.

Chewbecca · 16/02/2018 20:41

Oh no, fish is the only protein item you can buy from a chippy, everything else falls into the 'unidentifiable meat' category.

Needmorehands · 16/02/2018 20:43

Battered sausage if your are set against fish - DH bought me a saveloy once and it looked and tasted like a rubber dog chew!
Curry sauce with the chips obviously
Or a chicken kebab is always good :)

Skiiltan · 16/02/2018 20:43

I once got severe gastroenteritis after eating an undercooked saveloy. I haven't been able to eat them since, and that's about 40 years now.

So I vote for battered sausage. But steak & kidney pie would be better.

TheHolidayArmadillo · 16/02/2018 20:46

I would sell my left foot for a battered sausage supper right now. Plenty of salt and brown.

JessyJames · 16/02/2018 20:49

Neither. Fine examples of mystery meat.

TatianaLarina · 16/02/2018 20:58

Batterered sausages - is this some kind of horrible joke? Don’t even like chips. So none of the above.

Notgotajarofglue · 16/02/2018 21:04

Fish chips peas and curry. Thought everybody knew that

AlpacaLypse · 16/02/2018 21:05

Whatever you do, don't order a fishcake, at least anywhere south of Sheffield. English fishcakes are GRIM!

TatianaLarina · 16/02/2018 21:07

Have just googled saveloy. It’s worse than I thought. For God’s sake have fish woman. That is centrifuged pigs ear.

earlofhell · 16/02/2018 21:10

haggis supper or deep fried pizza supper. yum.

HildaZelda · 16/02/2018 21:12

Battered sausage for sure, and a portion of onion rings.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 16/02/2018 21:13

Battered sausage with ketchup. Takes me right back to my childhood and Dave's Plaice. Yes, really. 😂

SouthernNorthernGirl · 16/02/2018 22:17

I had battered sausage with chips and a buttered roll, plus curry sauce. It was lovely Smile

I don't do chip shop sausages, but the DCs like them. I'd have a mini fish, or perhaps a steak pie. I also can't stand the gravy, but DD swears by chips with gravy on them.

iklboo · 16/02/2018 22:59

Neither....ewwwww...and you think us northerners are weird for having gravy Grin

Andrewofgg · 16/02/2018 23:26

ikiboo Are you a real Northerner? As in County Durham or further North?

South of the Tees it's the better end of the Home Counties.
