To think games should fit in their box

Drives me crazy that Hungry Hippos doesn’t fit in its box once assembled. Also it is too hard for kids to put together and take apart so if it is to live in its box I have to put it together whenever they want to play it and take it apart again.

I have more of a problem with the oversize boxes, completely bigger than necessary.

Presumably this is a case of people with loads of room for storage vs people with little room for storage, the needs are opposite. Given that you if you have loads of space, you can always just leave them built up fully outside of the box, YABU to complain about the manufacturer optimising for the short on space. Particularly when that would also increase the cost of storage and delivery.

Don't ever buy Pop Pop Piñata, I nearly flung it across the room trying to get it back in the box. The stupid fucking head just wouldn't fit!

Mum2OneTeen · 19/02/2018 12:15

Twister! Once opened will never fold back into a neat flat package that fits into its box... like refolding a map, but much, much harder.

HarrietSchulenberg · 19/02/2018 12:19

We had a pack away toy kitchen that wouldn't pack away. Bane of my life, that was. Even worse than getting the tent back in its bag after camping.

HappyCrazyTired · 19/02/2018 17:57

My pet hates are play doh accessories & pop up tents I can never get either back in their boxes & it drives me crazy 😜

CurlyBlueberry · 19/02/2018 18:05

I was going to come on and say "but OUR hungry hippos fits in the box"... but I just checked and realised it's a knockoff version Grin it's not even hippos it's frogs and I never realised Blush

But YANBU at all! I echo the rage of the Melissa and Doug haters too. We have a wooden sandwich set which is lovely and DD loves it, but the fecking box has no lid and does have a transparent plastic container bit which you have to fit all the little bits in, but the shape of the bread and the lettuce and cheese is practically the same BUT SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT so you can't just shove the bread in any square hollow, it has to be exactly the right hollow, and likewise the tomatoes and cucumber and burger bits Angry

graysquirrel · 19/02/2018 19:33

Soggy doggy is exactly the same. You also have to dry it for about 100 hours first before putting in box.
Don't tell my children but it fell in the bin about 2 months ago. Hmm

As soon as I saw this thread title I thought of hungry hippos... I gave it away because it annoyed me so much.

Faze84 · 19/02/2018 19:38

I dont understand why so many of you say Hungry Hippos doesnt fit. You need to elongate their necks and click the black lever down, turn board upside down and slot them all in. It fits back in!!!!

Id take a pic but i have a 7wk old glued to me.

CircleofWillis · 19/02/2018 19:55

Wow thanks faze!

Darn - just realised she has dismantled it in the video I posted.

Faze84 · 19/02/2018 21:05

Yes but you can actually click them in underneath. And there is a round base that you store the balls in the middle.

JerryGiraffe · 19/02/2018 23:42

DH actually threw the box after Christmas, which pretty much caused world war 3 (with me, not DS!) so I wish I had the opportunity to know whether it fits back in the box or not, I'm left with loose sodding marble-ball things everywhere! 😁

colourdilemma · 20/02/2018 06:12

Gosh, where on earth is hungry hippos? Haven’t seen it for aaaages. (Hint-mainly because I got too annoyed with it and took it to the charity shop!).
