To think a lie in should be continuous sleep not up for hours then back to sleep?

Dh seems to think a lie in is me going back to bed once he has got up. By that point I've been up for hours and can't get back to sleep or I can but it doesn't feel the same... who is BU?

Happy to hear I should suck it up and be happy I get the chance to go back to bed at least...But it's not the same!

It's a nap not a lie in. A lie in would involve the other person getting up instead of you.

ijustwannadance · 15/02/2018 07:28

That would be pointless to me too. Assuming this involves children?

ijustwannadance · 15/02/2018 07:29

Why can't HE go back to bed when YOU get up?

toomuchfaster · 15/02/2018 07:29

I think if the person getting it considers it a lie-in, then it's OK. You clearly don't think it's a lie-in so DH should try harder.
IMO, I agree a lie-in is a longer sleep. What you are getting sounds more like a nap, which I hate!

MsAwesomeDragon · 15/02/2018 07:32

It's definitely not a lie in if you have to get up for a few hours first. That's a nap, and some people aren't cut out for napping (not me, I love a good nap)

If it's your lie in day (we have one each at a weekend, assume this is fairly normal) then he should be doing everything from the first wake up of the day until a similar time to when he gets up on his lie in day (or till lunchtime if you prefer)

GreenSeededGrape · 15/02/2018 07:35

It's his way of saying you get extra sleep too but it shows he doesn't understand that it's a nap.

I get up with dc on weekends and dh lies in. Then I nap when dd2 does. We do it this way because dh doesn't nap and I love a good nap!

But I do miss an actual lie in.

Ah, I'm so pleased I'm right you agree!

Hes off work this week ..what's the best way to wake him?!
