To answer, no I don't think I am, because until more people get angry about this, it's going to keep happening.

I believe passionately in fairness within sport. This isn't fair.

Yanbu. It can't be talked about enough imo. The situation in sport will make it harder and harder for women to progress.

DreamyMcDreamy · 14/02/2018 14:18

Just because it's not all over Chat and AIBU doesn't mean it's hidden away.

Chat and AIBU are the boards with the most traffic. They'll get seen more. Other boards such as the Litter Tray or The Royal Family etc, you'd have to actively go in and post and they very rarely trend.
Some women won't have a clue that "all this trans stuff" actually affects them too and their rights as women,so won't think about going in there and reading about it.
People need to know,

JoyTheUnicorn · 14/02/2018 14:18

I find it strange that women aren't interested in something that has the potential to affect them.

And it's not transphobic, there are plenty of transpeople who agree that self id is not the way to go, it's a small number, prevalent on social media, who have somehow got so far as to encourage the government to go along with their ideology - this isn't something we should be sitting back and being bored of.

I'm as concerned about the trans issue as much as the next Terf, but we have to be honest now - this place (MN) has become an echo chamber. A new thread and everyone protesting then it all calms down till the next thread - which is often just within 5mins - but it's an echo chamber. No-one has said what practically can be done about it.

JoyTheUnicorn · 14/02/2018 14:21

On most threads someone realises what's going on, or they are liberal to the point of not wanting trans women in a women's refuge, or in women's sport.
It needs to be spoken about openly so more people can understand the implications.

Where else can you put across the "other" side of the debate without being closed down except from on here?
If anything, everywhere else is an echo chamber.

It's a bit naive to think that threads in high traffic topics will be read by all.

You can hide threads on the Active list without even opening them thankfully.

JoyTheUnicorn · 14/02/2018 14:28

I reached peak trans having ignored all trans threads, then finally having a look to see why there were so many threads about it.
It took one thread to reach a better understanding of the current agenda.

VladmirsPoutine · 14/02/2018 14:34

@DreamyMcDreamy I think you will find we are broadly saying the same thing. The main element of my post was the last sentence. There will always be news articles about a trans-such-and-such then subsequent outrage about it on MN. But what can we do.

I've given up on Twitter too as it seems the 'transwomen are women' has won-over #NoDebate. It seems being able to think critically about sex and gender renders me a bigot - so be it.

I don't know if you saw the Spectator article thread? That kind of thing is useful and shows perhaps how much we need to continue talking about it as it's getting noticed elsewhere.

butterybiscuitbasebasebase · 14/02/2018 15:46

Why should I hide the threads when you lot could take your outrage over to a trans board instead?

It would hardly be hidden away would it? A trans board would be an appropriate place for trans discussion instead of turning every board into a trans board.

I am aware of trans issues, and my stance on them is irrelevant, I'm just sick of seeing my Active page full of bloody trans topics.
