I work in an office, mainly with women, mostly 10 to 15 years younger than me (I'm 46). They have given each other cutesy nicknames and hug each other every time one of them comes into the office. They speak to each other in ickle baby voices and keep reminding each other how wonderful and special they are. They tried to include me in it on one occasion but my face said 'fuck off' as clearly as any spoken word could have been. Am I being curmudgeonly? Or is this fucking ridiculous, infantalising bullshit? It's making me feel rather queasy

What line of work are you in? Is it a creative field? I'm guessing it's not accountancy

That is abnormal behaviour for women in their 30's. No one I know in their 30's is like that.

I would be looking for a new job!

I think you need to join in with the fun and see how happy it makes you. Get some rainbow, sparkly desk accessories. Make everyone cupcakes on Mondays. Wear only pastel colours and accessories from Claires. Invent your own cute name and insist that everyone calls you it from now on, including senior managers.

I think it would be vair vexing. But twatty? No. I would reserve that label for some behaviour that was actually doing someone harm. So YA over-reacting to call it twatty, not unreasonable to be very irritated.

Antiboop it's actually a fairly ordinary sales/account managing kind of job but I enjoy the actual work. It's just these clowns I can't stomach.
I don't respond to any request or comment made in a baby voice any more. I just repeatedly say 'pardon, I'm afraid I can't tell what you're saying' until they give up and speak properly. I'm not popular

There used to be one of those women in my office, luckily only one, but the glittery shit on her desk was intolerable. Luckily she decided we weren't her "people" and went to work in a different office.

There is a woman I used to work with in another office who continues to speak in baby voices despite being over 50. It was so embarrassing!

Confession time....I have 2 unicorns on my desk but that's because when I started my job, someone said that there's more chance of finding a unicorn than there is of delivering what I need to do (it's been tried and failed several times before I joined). So I have the unicorns to rub their faces in the success.

I have a nickname too but it's not SuzyWoozyFloozy-esque. More along the lines of Evil Devil Bitch who will Make Your Cry. .

Maybe you just need to rebrand them all.

Your post reminds me of a team leader I had in one of my office jobs who was mid 50s, but every time a male client called would talk as if she was slightly tapped. (Think Donald Duck on helium)
