What is being sold as pancakes are drop scones, not pancakes.

I’m Scottish too, so pancakes are fluffy and have butter and jam on them, drop scones aren’t a thing and those weird thin crepe things are pointless...

Hope that helps, lol

Ahhh this thread explains why I've had to thin out the Nigella batter so much.

She calls it "crepes" but it's far too thick for those. Imagine it would be good for scotch pancakes though.

PS drop scones are something completely different, surely

I'm always fascinated by people's recipes because I use my Mum's "recipe", an egg per person and enough milk and flour to get the consistency you want. For fluffy fat American pancakes I use self raising flour, for thin crepes I use plain flour. Simples!

Oh and drop scones or "silver dollar pancakes" as she says are much much smaller. Now I'm hungry.

THose things sold in shops are definitely pancakes if you are Scottish.
