Just that really....what is the best age range to get the best enjoyment out of it?

MIL has suggested going and taking the children. I think they are too young to enjoy and it would be a day of walking around and queuing loads with lots of bored kids. For info kids are 6mths, 1yr, 3yr, 4yr and 6yr

The Windsor one is crap. Vaguely Lego themed, more a theme park that has Lego branding than anything about Lego. A lot of stuff was closed when we were there (May) and the food options were absolutely diabolical - grubby and overpriced.

Duchessgummybuns · 12/02/2018 18:43

I think the whole place would benefit from a jolly good clean and a lick of paint. Some of it is so tired and old and frankly disgusting when you consider the ticket price.

And the queues have already been mentioned. Unless you can go teen time or get a Q-not thingy you can only expect to go on about 3/4 rides in the space of a day 🙄

Duchessgummybuns · 12/02/2018 18:43

*term time

dorolee · 12/02/2018 18:59

There are definitely rides for the smaller kids - I would let her take the 4 and 6 y/o

squealingpiglets · 12/02/2018 19:17

My DC aged 7 & 3 love it, youngest was just tall enough to go on the majority of rides last time we went (aged 2.5 at the time), there were only a few she couldn't do. I wouldn't say its worth it for the babies although they should be free entry under 2 years anyway.

We went term time though, so virtually no queues for any of the rides. First time we went in summer holidays & queues were horrendous - would definitely advise against that - it was no fun for anyone, plus swarming with wasps!

Cost wise it is very expensive to go but we've always managed to get cheap/free tickets with tesco clubcard vouchers, which has saved us quite a bit.

rosy71 · 12/02/2018 19:21

We went twice - first time they were 4 & 7; 2nd time, 7 & 10. They loved it both times. Both my boys were really into Lego though; ds1 spent ages in miniland the first time and said it was his favourite part. we didn't really go for rides, more for the Lego.

The first time we went, we got 2 days on the park & a hotel overnight for £168 so not expensive really.

ApacheEchidna · 12/02/2018 19:24

I wouldn't go without paying the extra for a Qbot. That's the only thing that can make it a brilliant day out rather than a disappointing day of queuing for 3 rides.

There are plenty of junior rides for the little ones too short for the big rides - but your party will be split in two and hardly see each other.

If you can surrender to the inevitability of being fleeced and resolve to enjoy what you can of the experience then you will all enjoy it.

MikeUniformMike · 12/02/2018 19:24

They often have wasps.
It's not crap but it is mainly for younger kids.
It is expensive unless you get a 2-for-1 or similar offer.
It was crap when it rained when we went. This is the UK, take coats.
You can spend most of the day there.
The traffic is horrendous at peak times. When you come out, take the last turning off the roundabout not the first.
Windsor is lovely for a weekend away. Thorpe Park and Chessington are fairly near.

buckleten · 12/02/2018 19:28

Only go term time or inset days, otherwise it is the most horrific experience!

Dljlr · 12/02/2018 19:29

Awful, dirty, expensive shit hole. I wouldn't go back for free. Wasted hours of mine and DS's life waiting in long queues being plagued by wasps to watch wealthier families queue jump because they'd paid more. Fucking awful. I stopped at a kiosk to ask for a map and the woman snapped they had none "because piss poor management". It was all so awful that despite paying for 3 days we went home in the afternoon of day 2. Seriously don't bother.

zodsfox · 12/02/2018 19:32

We've always found it brilliant. Probably depends what day you go on though - we're looking forward to going back when it opens!

pupchewsleg · 12/02/2018 19:35

I haven't been at this time of year, but in May and October kids loved it. Lots of rides for smaller kids, and my boys especially liked the driving school when smaller. With 2 for 1 vouchers was good value (from Kelloggs or newspaper or various other places). I don't think most people pay full price. I guess it depends how 'up for it' you feel, to how much you enjoy it. My boys loved the show (outdoors, lots of exciting stunts) and that's a good opportunity to sit down and eat your picnic. If you pack a picnic, you can send an adult back to the car to get it at lunchtime.

Lalliella · 12/02/2018 19:41

Hmmm. No! Don’t do it. Echo PP who said overpriced and overhyped. Also the kids are too young really. Do you have a Gullivers near you? We used to go to the Milton Keynes one a lot when the kids were that age, it’s fab, much cheaper and much less busy.

Mintychoc1 · 12/02/2018 19:44

I think legoland is one of those places you only go to when your kids have specifically asked to go! It's basically a pretty standard theme park in terms of rides, but if you're a Lego fan then that makes all the difference.

My top tips would be:-

Don't go in main school holidays. We live in Leicestershire and we break up a week before everyone else in summer. If you go in holidays or summer weekends the queues will be unbearable, to the extent that you will literally spend most of the day in a queue.

Get vouchers. I used Tesco ones, saved up for months so our entry tickets were free.

Buy a Q-bot so you can book slots for different rides and jump queues. Immoral I guess, but it's really the only way to make it bearable in my opinion.

Take your own food and drink, anything you buy there is extortionate.

Really I wouldn't go at all unless the kids were very keen, and I would say that only your older 2 would get anything out of it.

BlindLemonAlley · 12/02/2018 19:45

There’s no way I would track 3 hours for this. It is incredibly disappointing, expensive and exhausting with the queues. Let them run around a nice park instead. Trust me you will all enjoy it a lot more.

HoneyDragon · 12/02/2018 19:46

Wasps

Tiredmum100 · 12/02/2018 19:51

Mine are 4&6 and love legoland.

redexpat · 12/02/2018 19:52

Bring em all to the one in Denmark. Much nicer and lots for little ones.

calmandbright · 12/02/2018 19:52

Take a picnic that you can bin afterwards so you don’t have to lug around all day, as food is extortionate. Also, my mum bought some pounshop pac a Mac style ponchos beforehand - ended up being a genius move. The cheap thin legoland yellow ponchos were about a fiver each, whereas the poundshop ones were quite thick plastic and much more effective at keeping us dry! The pirate show was amazing! Do go and see it.

Cranberrywensleydale · 12/02/2018 21:14

4 and 6, and we had the best day ever at Lego land!! Honestly awesome! Tip - Get there for when it opens! Tip 2 - helps if it's sunny! Smile

lippymother · 12/02/2018 21:31

I hated every second of it. Never again!!!!
