To not have isofix

Please help!

I need a car seat ideally with a belted base or if not just a whole belted seat (car does not have isofix) I would like it in the toddler size so usually 9 months to 4 years (I've seen some that are birth to 12 years etc so I know the ages range vastly) I am struggling so much!

It's for my in laws car when they do childcare so I can't give them our seat and base to use because it's all isofix only (maxi cosi 2wayfix)

we don't want to spend too much but can't find anything that is

  1. rearward and forward facing 2)belted 3)ideally with a base or just the seat at this stage!
  2. and to cover a wide enough age range so we don't have to buy another seat too soon. I know it's cheeky posting for traffic but please help!!

@MrTrebus I imagine it probably depends on the make and age of your car but certainly my parents had it done in their 2008 Focus by the local garage. I think the ISOFIX kit was about £20 and with labour it came to less than £100 all in. Cheaper than a second seat. Worth asking at your local garage.

We retrofitted isofix in an Audi a6 a while back. Ordered from Audi dealer for £90 and DH fitted them

We have the Recaro Young Sport Hero which is a stage 1,2,3 seat. It is forward facing though. Seat is securely fixed to the car using the car seatbelt until 18kg, while child is held in the seat by the 5 point harness. From 15kg you can remove the 5 point harness from the seat and restrain the child with the car seat belt. With DS, he is a slight build and short for his age, but didn’t want to be seen in a ‘baby’ seat on the school run. This was a nice compromise because he was still securely held in with the 5 point harness until just after his 6th birthday (sold to him also on my telling him that if 5 point harnesses are good enough for racing car drivers then they’re good enough for him). I’ve just bought 2 more for the DTs. They should last until they’re 12, so imo good value for money.
