Vegan help!

Rebeccaslicker · 09/02/2018 20:38

I have friends staying this weekend and one has just turned vegan.

We're eating out for the main meal, but i want to get some light bites to have with wine in the evening. I'm just going to get deli stuff from m&s as there's no time to cook - but does anyone have any good ideas for vegans, esp for pudding?

I was thinking:

Crisps
Nuts
Pretzels
Houmous and dips
Salad
Coleslaw (with vinaigrette style dressing)
Stuffed vine leaves

And there my imagination runs out! Does anyone have any ideas??

Summer fruit pudding can be vegan if you find the right one, Waitrose certainly was

Unless the bread has an animal fat in it summer pudding is naturally vegan anyway. It is just bread, berry fruits and sugar after all.

My friend puts a lot of vegan and vegetarian food on her insta. She made a mushroom pate yesterday that looked nice

barefoofdoctor · 10/02/2018 10:18

DSIS loves pretend bacon, mini vegan scotch eggs, falafel (made of sawdust Grin ), hummus, dairy free ice cream and vegan pate (Waitrose).

Walkers salt and vinegar crisps aren't vegan as they contain milk products.

They are vegan.

Cheese and onion ones aren't (obviously)

Falafel is easy for snacks. Or olives. A lot of Asian snacks are vegan as they don't tend to use dairy much in Asian cooking - so veggie spring rolls, gyoza, onion bhajis, that type of thing. You tend to have to check labels though, as they can randomly contain milk.

Uhuhhoney my mistake. The normal ones are, the baked ones aren't, so I'm half right Grin

List of ingredients here

Vegan fish fingers are so close to the real thing that if you gave a non vegan them they probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference. They might think that they were value fish fingers.

Most crisps
