To 'help' the kids eat their Xmas chocolate... There's tonnes left

My DS and DSD have tonnes of Xmas choc, that everyone got for them . Literally a bloody cupboard full. Dsd is only here EOW.. And DS is bored of it. He prefers a jelly sweet to choc of had a choice
There's 4, of those Thornton Santas. Probably 12 tubes of choc. 8 selection boxes. Nets of coins and god knows what else.
Dsd can't take it home as she said mummy bins stuff from ours. (whole different story)
DS as I say prefers other sweets than chocolates but also likes to know its there for some reason.
But my thinking is. 1. Its the cupboard I had set up for baby bottles etc due in a few weeks ..and had to empty it again. As no where to store the hoards of chocolate .

  1. At this rate it will be Easter and it will get more ridiculous
  2. I want chocolate! Lol.
  3. Seriously, I don't like them having that extent but if I ate some maybe I could get them a dvd or something to make up for it?

How old are they?

You'd be much better off asking them if you can have some of their chocolate, rather than asking Mumsnet.

I'm sure you can find somewhere else to store it or the baby bottles.

Or as PP's suggested, cooking with it and getting the kids in involved is a great idea.

I ate most of my kids' Christmas chocolate. DS2 got 4 full sized selection boxes, he is 18 months! No way am I going to give him all that. I don't feel bad about it at all, I don't mind the odd pack of buttons but no toddler needs to be eating a double decker!

WorraLiberty · 09/02/2018 09:45

Well 18 months is too young to ask anyway superking

Step away from the chocolate! Bin it, give it away, anything rather than eat it. Seriously.

What is wrong with some people?

You need to ask their permission, it's not ok just to take their stuff. It is no better than the mother,, maybe worse as you are being less transparent about it. How would you feel if they simoly took your stuff without your permissions?

You're simply trying to make a case for you taking it. You've already taken some without their permission.

If you want to eat their chocolate, ask them first.

I ate some of my kids Xmas Choc. DD is 2, she has no need to eat 3kg of chocolate. Some got eaten by me, some by DH, some went into a cake we all ate. Kids had it doled out in small portions daily but stopped asking as they'd had enough of it.

Can you use it for baking?
