What's your guilty pleasure? As a stepmother to two teenagers mine is when they pack their weekend bag and return to their DM, so she can take care of them and their lovely teenage behaviours. AIBU?

OP posts:
fleshmarketclose · 08/02/2018 18:58

Mine is feeding the family something substantial and then having a fish finger sandwich and a handful of tomatoes because "I'm not hungry" or leaving the dc to sleep in until lunchtime at the weekend and watching catch up TV all morning in peace.

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 08/02/2018 18:59

Yes, sparklingbrook, you disapprove of OP, we got it the first time.

Lethaldrizzle · 08/02/2018 18:59

Teenagers are not vile

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/02/2018 19:01

An entire pack of leerdammer cheese slices and the latest episode of Teenmom/90 day fiance.

The poor Op didn't say she hated her step kids or put toads in their beds, just that she enjoyed the quiet once they're gone.

I feel like that and my child is mine, gosh some of you are such perfect parents.

Amanduh · 08/02/2018 19:02

Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
I dislike the hysteria and worship them and their examples/behaviour and they’re dimwits...
But I love to watch! Blush

Amanduh · 08/02/2018 19:02

Worship OF them that should say!

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/02/2018 19:03

Actually Lethaldrizzle, mine is sometimes, it doesn't stop me loving her though.

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 08/02/2018 19:04

Teenagers are most definitely capable of being vile.

Source: was one once.

Mulch · 08/02/2018 19:04

Being child free
Sitting in a cafe reading
Not cleaning

beepbeeprichie · 08/02/2018 19:06

Brillo high five!
90 Day Fiancé, Teen Mom OG... also Fat Girl Dancing and Gypsy Brides US. Ultimate is 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days. Watching that while reading the witty Reddit thread of commentary is truly something to look forward to. Happy days.

Greenteandchives · 08/02/2018 19:06

Hang your head in shame Grin

Scribblegirl · 08/02/2018 19:10

When DP is away I run a bath, put on the radio and take a book, a bottle of wine, a tube of pringles and a tub of tzatsiki in and don't leave until I've finished them all Blush

BillywigSting · 08/02/2018 19:10

I sympathise op, I breathe a sigh of relief when ds gets into school and I hear myself think. He's a lovely boy and not a teenager yet so not stroppy but silence is golden I don't get much of it with him around. He could talk the back legs off a donkey

Mummadeeze · 08/02/2018 19:11

Definitely agree with not cleaning! Eating Eskimo waffles at Wimpy. Watching The Bachelor. Playing slots on online casino sites. Take a Break magazine. Cheap Chinese Buffets. Browsing in Poundland. Buying things I don't need in Primark. People at work probably assume I am fairly sophisticated in my spare time but I am definitely not and I love it.

TroubleinDaFamily · 08/02/2018 19:15

DH normally works from home on a Friday, I don't work Fridays, so I never have the house to myself.

He is working tomorrow.

Once DS (16) has left for school I will fill a hot water bottle, take a Nytol, wake up, when I wake up and then schlep downstairs in my oversized towelling robe, crank up the heating and then binge on shit TV.

At about 4.00, I will have a shower, morph back into a grown up and sort dinner.

I can not bloody wait. Grin

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/02/2018 19:16

Beepbeeprichie
Jes, I love this a little bit, ooh look some goats.
(I'm addicted to 90day fiance reddit)

ManicUnicorn · 08/02/2018 19:16

Eating Nutella with a spoon from the jar.Ditto peanut butter.

NotACleverName · 08/02/2018 19:20

I don't feel guilty about anything I like. I don't see the point.

mamaduckbone · 08/02/2018 19:24

In the spirit of your op, my guilty pleasure is that a couple of times a year I get a week off work when my dcs are at school and there’s not a thing I can do about it. (I teach in a different county)

I should, I’m sure, want to spend every moment of the holidays doing worthwhile quality things with my gorgeous children, but hell, it’s fun having a week off without them as well. Grin

RedGrapeCornSnake · 08/02/2018 19:26

Watching KPop related videos on YouTube and 'admiring' men a good 10 years younger than me. T'was a happy day when I realised I could make YouTube work on the TV while I was home alone!

My DC are going away for part of half term, I can't wait, don't even feel guilty about that, I love them to bits but parenting can be relentless

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/02/2018 19:35

Ha Redgrape, my biggest crushes are Harry Styles and AJ Pritchard.
I'm 40.

cornishmumtobe · 08/02/2018 19:51
