To ask if anyone else’s periods changed after childbirth?

I unfortunately got mine back quite quickly despite breastfeeding. They are heavier than I remember them being, but nothing I can manage seeing as I can just hide away at home for the week and refuse to leave the house.

But my God, the period pains are horrendous. It just comes out of nowhere and has me nearly floored. Please tell me this doesn’t continue forever. It’s the 4th one since birth and it doesn’t feel any better than the last few months.

Does this happen to everyone? Is this one of those many, many unpleasant things that the NHS forget to mention? Does it get better with time?

Mine always used to be quite light but got heavier after ds1 and heavier again after ds2. Since I've been in my 40s they gone much lighter and shorter but happen closer together.

Before pregnancy my periods were painful and not that regular, afterwards they never hurt at all and like clockwork

limon · 07/02/2018 20:32

OP mybexoerienxe is the complete opposite to you. All mynlie I had heavy, clotty, painful periods until I had my daughter. I now have no pain at all and no clots.

Mine changed completely. Went from a very regular 35 day cycle to a 21 day cycle, and with worse PMS than I had had as a teenager. 7 years on, the Mirena has helped a lot but it's still patchy

I had two c sections close together and I have been left with terrible ovulation pain. To the point I could cry in pain

DontPullThatTubeOut · 07/02/2018 20:38

Mine changed. They were always regular and heavy, but I also had bad pain along with it. Curl up in a ball whilst crying until I could fall asleep type of pain. Since having my girls I have other issues, but the pain seems to have mostly gone. I can now get through them even though they are heavy, with minimal issues.

I had horrendous period pain when I was younger (my periods were quite light though) it would make me vomit and all I wanted to do on the first day of my period was stay in bed and eat nothing (My mother is very much of the stoic variety and I was expected to just deal with it, if the DDs have periods like that I'll take them to the GP to sort out). Anyway, Mum always said her (also terrible) period pain stopped after pregnancy and miraculously mine did as well. It has been 10 years and it still rather freaks me out that I can actually forget it's my period.

Yep them motherfuckers are back with vengeance! Glad Iam not the only one. Just got mine this morning and I am dying! And why is it heavier and why????? Wtf 🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫me now!

WellTidy · 07/02/2018 20:54

Mine are lighter but last longer. I can go a couple of day mid period with no blood loss, and then have some more loss. Pain in the arse as you think it has finished and are then caught out.
