Yup, does happen. I always have tons of bags but a particularly sloppy poo can end up on my hands and I either rinse in the sea or wipe. My dh thinks it is funny. It absolutely is not but it is better than someone standing in it.

Worse is the bastard who lets their dog loose in the village to secretly shit everywhere. I always think our dogs will get the blame so I pick it up as well - dh goes mad and says they will keep doing it if they think I am the village shit picker. No, they will keep doing it any way.

I have been caught out just once with the unexpected poo/used last bag scenario.

Fortunately, I had just finished a Costa. As ddog began the tell-tale sniff, circle, squat, I deftly stuck the Costa cup under the 'elimination point' and poo plopped neatly into cup.

Didn't even touch the ground.

Rather proud of myself for that.

Did it happen like this?

Pick It Up

Are you sure they picked it up with their bare hands and didn’t just get some on them? I’ve botched a pick up before.

steppemum · 07/02/2018 11:43

I have picked up with a bag and put the bag in th ebin and then realised I had a bit on my hand and wiped it on the grass.

Are you sure they picked it up with bare hands?

steppemum · 07/02/2018 11:56

mind you, steppedog likes to poo, take a step, poo a bit more, take a step, poo a bit more and so on.

You either need 10 bags, or a great repeat pick technique!

Sarahh2014 · 07/02/2018 12:59

I just saw the hand wiping and that was enough unsure if originally had a bag

I am VERY careful as this is one of my big fears. Always arrange pop bag completely over hand first. Dog usually gets look of boredom as I'm being slow but screw them!

I've had to pick up a small terrier poop when my dog unexpectedly produced in a park when I had no bags with me (distracted - picked her up after overnight stay at vets when we thought she was dying).

There was only a few leaves around but I couldn't not pick it up.

I've also stuck my hand in a bag as I've gone to collect the poo, only for it to split. So I grabbed a big handful of warm dog crap with my bare hand, as the bag flapped uselessly on my wrist and laughed at me.

MardAsSnails · 07/02/2018 13:51

Just for future knowledge for those rummaging for bin stuff to use - paper bags are useless. It was all I could find when our fucking mutt dog decided to have a crap in the underground car park where we live. Sogged up on contact.

Total middle class disaster situation - I was standing next to my 4x4, using a paper bag from an organic shop, and rinsing my hands in San pellegrino after getting shit on them.

I now keep a couple of rolls of bags in the car. Fuck knows why I hadn't thought of that before.

Birdsgottafly · 07/02/2018 14:02

In all fairness my dog's poo smells better than my grand children's and is generally a better consistency.

Yet whenever its suggested that there are wrong places to change a nappy, it doesn't get a good reaction.
