To serve fish cakes with potato

They're the melt in the middle kind. I was going to serve with colcannon and a poached egg on top or with jacket spuds and salad. DH said it's breaking some good rule because it's just potato on potato Hmm

It should be chips in my opinion. Love fish cakes, chips & salad. Also like Shepherds pie, chips, veg & gravy.

If these fish cakes are more fishy than potatoes then sounds good but I can see his point if he’s thinking about cheap fish cakes that are just fish flavoured mashed potato.

We often have Aldi smoked haddock in cheese sauce fishcakes (potato barely noticeable) and serve with mixed peas, sweetcorn and green beans.
