Okay we have a Scottish election coming up.
Okay I know all about the principle of free speech.

But when I flick thro' a pile of election leaflets that the postie has just fired thro' my letterbox I do not expect or want to see anything from a bunch of bigoted racist arseholes.

Am I wrong?

Saintmaybe: putting a leaflet through someoen's door is not the same as shouting 'fire' in a crowded theatre. That's used as an example of free speech to mean behaviour that causes an immediate physical risk to others. Expressing opinions, whatever those opinions may be, are not the same as telling people that there is an immediate physical threat to their lives (FIIIRE!!!) when there isn't. Even telling people to go home and barricade themselves in because of the , uh, "them" out there (whatever group the speaker is trying to scare you about) is not quite the same thing.

Oh, and I'll just quote my own fav author here when it comes to voting "If you can't choose who to vote fore then vote against"

I agree with moondog although it makes me incredibly nervous that they exist as a party and have supporters. Also like lucyellenmum's present idea!

GBW a friend of mine was so sick with the BNP stuff coming through his door that on voteing day he voted for them, he then went up to the one that had turned out at the local polling station, handed HIM his voteing form said keep up the good work, keep the n in their place and walked off......

My friend is black, it made the lacal papers and made the BNP look total prats [they are anyway]

I will see if i can find the paper bit on line..

Find out the address of your local BNP councillor and post the leaflets back though their letterbox.
