Cafe keeps closing at short notice - AIBU?

There's a lovely little cafe near me that serves amazing food and cakes. The husband and wife who run it have a young child; and always seem to close at short notice to take their child to an appointment, or to hire it out for parties/baby showers.

Sometimes they will update their facebook page to say that they will be closed today for a baby shower OR if they have to take their son to an appointment and sometimes they won't bother updating it or putting a sign on the door to say they are closed. A few people have commentedto say they drove 20/30 minutes to find it closed but with no sign so they were very pissed off. The cafe has loads of 5 star reviews though because the food is lovely.

AIBU to think that this is unprofessional and bad business practice, to frequently (a few times a month) close at very short notice and sometimes not bother to post anything on their business page on facebook or put a sign on the door?

I wouldn't worry about it unduly. They may not need the revenue from the cafe; they may be doing it as a pleasant and rewarding way to spend their time. There may be good reasons for having to close at short notice (could one of their DC be unwell?) I wouldn't get hung up on them advertising closures on Facebook, either. There are still some people (like me) who don't use Facebook at all...

I understand it's frustrating but without knowing what the appointment is their DD needs taking to it's hard to say whether you're BU in not. If it's for a hair cut or to the dentist then you're not but if it's because their dc has a medical reason for needing both parents to take her then you probably are.

I'm sure they know that by being closed it's going piss off customers so I doubt they're doing it lightly.

If they are wealthy enough to run a business as a pleasant hobby and not worry about making money, could they not employ someone to keep it open when they have to dash off somewhere unexpectedly?
