To not expect to see oiled up, naked women, on adverts for builder's merchants.

My DP is a carpenter and he has his own very small building company - atm, Me and him and the occasional labourer. Anyway, i do his accounts and admin and this morning received a brocure from a new building suppliers. What am i greeted with in the post this morning is a naked, apart from tool belt which doesnt cover quite everything (tbh the girl could do with a bikini wax!) and a saw over her tits. Not a particularly offensive picture, quite poor composition really but why do they think that all builders think with thier pricks? For one, i definately don't have one of those and have no interest in looking at naked women first thing in the morning. Secondly, i would like to think that people consider my partner to have a bit more about him than a sun reading, lecherous, white van man. He does have a white van though I'm not a rampant feminist and i quite like porn (in its place) so am i the only one to find this sort of advertising offensive and patronising?

Bump - surely someone must have some thoughts on this?

Very offensive - in my first ever job I used to do small companies' accounts, and would go out to do their audit - several construction/cleaning/shipping companies would have these calendars on their walls and as a somewhat innocent 17 yr old, it horrified me!

And yes, it did jaundice my opinion of the men that worked there, who would put such a thing up on their walls - so I'm sure that it would the customers too!

My partner often complains about those calenders at builders offices etc. We certainly wouldnt allow it. Not because of any sexism issue, we used to have naked men and women in the lab at uni (but no public access you see!) but because it is unprofessional. The trouble is, some men still think it is fun to look at this sort of stuff in their lunch breaks, its beyond me - why not wait til the privacy of their own toilet!!!! I just think that anyone running their own business should be credited with a little bit more integrity and respect. I was a research scientist before dd2 and i certainly didnt see naked anything on the reagent catalogues etc.
