Flaky eczema/ psoriasis type skin in the crease between their arse and leg?

It's driving me to distraction, wearing tights to work probably doesn't help but am in the vicious itch/scratch cycle (sexy as fuck, eh?) also steroid cream and other similar potions haven't worked.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Aveeno has worked wonders for various of members of our house - from baby to me - and seems to keep it at bay.

As long as the eczema isn't infected it seemed to budge it for us, even where hydrocortisone hasn't.

Hope it clears up.

poddige · 04/02/2018 20:07

Also - something I never knew, despite 32 years of eczema.

You are supposed to douse the area in cream prior to bath/shower, to keep the water away from it. The dr told us this when we were in OOH when DS was a few months old with infected discoid eczema.

This is probably totally common knowledge, but had totally passed me by.

FarmerSee · 04/02/2018 20:12

Aveeno. It was like an instant miracle cream for my son's eczema. I bought it on a whim when it was on offer in Costco for myself. I decided to give it a go on DS and within 3 days it was like he'd never had any skin problems. I went to my GP and he happily allowed me to get it on prescription. I used it in DS every day for a few weeks and then reduced it to every other day, and so on. A few months later he didn't need to use it at all, and his eczema hasn't returned since.

Primrole oil tablets.

Lucymek · 04/02/2018 20:13

Primrose even

Rebeccaslicker · 04/02/2018 20:13

Another shout out for aveeno here - even DF, who has suffered with terrible eczema all his life, often needing steroids for it, raves about aveeno, and hasn't used the steroid cream since I bought it for him!

Bubblysqueak · 04/02/2018 20:15

Moogoo cream is amazing !

SaucyJack · 04/02/2018 20:16

Sudocrem? It's not eczema specific, but it works wonders on any scabby, sore skin IME.

Redcherries · 04/02/2018 20:21

Double base cream, took my dd’s eczema out in days, fantastic stuff.

wheresthel1ght · 04/02/2018 20:26

The Dr advised me to put dd (4) in those short style knickers so that there wasn't tight elastic in that area as it can cause irritation and additional sweating. We have been using them for about 3 months and not had any severe flare ups since. She wears tights most days as she insists on wearing skirts to school

bookishtartlet · 04/02/2018 20:27

Stop wearing tights! Can you switch to leggings with dresses? Underwear needs to be cotton too until it clears up. Try a soak in the bath with oilatum or porridge oat milk. Stronger steroid if needed. I have had eczema my whole life it's brutal.

WheresTheHooferDoofer · 04/02/2018 20:32

If you want an alternative to tights, try stockings/suspender belt.

I've not worn tights in over 30 years, wearing stockings with dresses and skirts keeps me cool and comfortable.

There's awide variety available, from sheer to opaque.

April229 · 04/02/2018 20:33

Teatree oil

frieda909 · 04/02/2018 20:36

I know this will make me sound like a right hippy but my sister swears she has just ‘cured’ her (previously terrible) psoriasis by drinking turmeric tea. She’s really sceptical about those kinds of suggestions usually as well, as people have been coming up with random ‘cures’ for her for years.

Can’t hurt to try, at least?

Elephant17 · 04/02/2018 20:42

Poor you op! Doesn't sound like fun at all. Steroid cream and sun were the only things that worked for mine. It's a tricky area yours is in, as it will be very easy for any creams (steroid or otherwise) to rub off and not do their job.

There's a type of sun bed treatment you could try, don't know the medical term for it but could ask your gp about it? It might target the area better than creams

Ancientmummyofwooooos · 04/02/2018 20:50

I used a nappy cream called morhulin before and after shower and aveeno daily, use aveeno as a daily still and not had any problems since

titsbumfannythelot · 04/02/2018 21:48

Thanks all.

Aveeno duly applied. I've read about tumeric tea recently so will try that too.

Where can I get turmeric tea . My scalp psoriasis is making me crazy

PlateOfBiscuits · 05/02/2018 10:54

You can buy turmeric pills in Holland and Barrat I think.

titsbumfannythelot · 05/02/2018 12:39

@Member984815 try this recipe www.meghantelpner.com/blog/tea-time-with-turmeric/

I think nut milk might be better as dairy apparently aggravates skin conditions.

Thank you I'll definitely give this a try
