to ask if you have a dyson handheld that gives you shocks?

We have one, DH thought it was terribly extravagant to spend that much when we have a good vacuum but with two dogs I really wanted one for the hairballs which build up. I was vacuuming today and kept getting shocks on my hand from it.

I get shocks! But only me, not my husband. I also get shocks from stroking the dog...so not sure what that says about me. Luckily I only use it to clean sofas and a few rugs...I have got used to the shocks now, they don't bother me. However, the short battery span and it's inability to deal with long stray hairs (as they stop the spinner thing working) irritate me far more.

Are your carpets synthetic?
